More details on LEGO Super Mario and its creation, no Switch connectivity

Right around the announcement of LEGO Super Mario, The Brothers Brick spoke with digital design lead Jonathan Bennink. Bennink shared additional details about how the whole thing works and the actual creation process.

It was recently announced that Nintendo and Levi’s established a new partnership focusing around Super Mario. A bunch of clothing and accessories are planned, including bandanas, bags, fanny packs, and hats.

After it was teased on Mario Day, Nintendo and LEGO unveiled a new partnership featuring the well-known platforming character. Mario and friends will be offered in LEGO form later this year with a new type of experience.
Speaking with The Brothers Brick, digital design lead Jonathan Bennink revealed that this project has been in the works for over four years. He also spoke about how to partnership with Nintendo came about, stating:

The Seattle Times is reporting that a staffer at Nintendo of America in Redmond, Washington has tested positive for the coronavirus. The employee was in contact with other Nintendo workers, who are now in self-quarantine. This applies whether they have symptoms or not.

Square Enix is one of the major players impacted by the cancellation of E3 2020. The company attended last year’s show in full force, complete with a press conference that announced and highlighted numerous games such as Final Fantasy VIII Remastered.

BAFTA Games Awards moves to online stream due to coronavirus

Much like other events, the BAFTA Games Awards has been impacted by the coronavirus. There will no longer be an in-person ceremony similar to past year. BAFTA now says that the proceedings will shift to an online live stream.
As was previously the case, the BAFTA Games Awards will be held on April 2.

LEGO Super Mario sets unveiled

After teasing a collaboration between LEGO and Super Mario earlier this week, Nintendo has unveiled special sets for its platforming franchise.
The new product line “features an interactive LEGO Mario figure who collects coins in real-life game levels created with LEGO bricks.” It’ll let users “experience the playful world of Super Mario like never before” and “be brought to life in the physical LEGO world and new levels of challenge and styles of play will be part of the iconic LEGO experience enjoyed by generations.”

Gamevice’s patent lawsuit finally reaches game over

After the lawsuit began around three years ago an end is finally in sight. Gamevice originally launched a case against Nintendo for violating its patent on a “combination computing device and game controller” with a “flexible bridge section”. It then dropped the case and filed another claim with the US Trade Commission, which then began its own official investigation. Per 360Law, here’s how this lengthy episode ended:
Nintendo Co. Ltd. walked away victorious from consolidated inter parties reviews of a Gamevice Inc. mobile gaming patent, with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board invalidating all 19 claims Nintendo had challenged. In a pair of decisions issued Tuesday, the board determined that all claims were obvious in light of earlier patents.
