8Bitdo’s SN30/SF30 Pro controllers receive new 1.25 firmware update

Without much fanfare, a couple of 8Bitdo’s controllers received a firmware update. Version 1.25 is out now for the SN30 and SF30 Pro.
You can download the new firmware here. According to the official patch notes, the accuracy of analog on SWITCH mode has been enhanced.

Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe have been nominated for Favorite Video Game for Nickelodeon’s 2018 Kids’ Choice Awards. The event, which will be hosted by John Cena, takes place March 24. Voting for the video game category begins March 19.

Original: A new trailer for Pokemon the Movie 2018 just aired on the Japanese variety show Oha Suta. The film, which premieres on July 13, is going by the name Pokemon: Everyone’s Story for its release in Japan.

Overview of Pokemon Day 2018 activities

The first Pokemon games, Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green, launched in Japan on February 27, 1996. That means the franchise is turning 22 years old.
A number of activities are lined up for Pokemon Day 2018 to celebrate the big day. There isn’t anything overly massive, but a number of different events are planned relating to Pokemon GO, Snapchat, and more.

Nintendo ranks second in Metacritic’s 2017 game publisher rankings

Metacritic published its rankings today based on publishers with the overall highest-reviewed games of 2017. Nintendo climbed to the second spot, up one position from the year prior. Across Switch and 3DS, the company’s average Metascore was 78.0, which is 1.5 points higher than in 2016.

Sonic was originally imagined as a human boy

Sonic the Hedgehog was originally envisioned as a very different character. Naoto Ohshima, who designed the Blue Blur, told John Szczepaniak in the latest entry of his Untold History of Japanese Game Developers series that Sonic was originally going to be a human boy.

Super Mario Encyclopedia finally releasing in English later this year

Original (2/19): The Super Mario Encyclopedia originally debuted in Japan back in October 2015. Three years later, the book is finally getting an English localization.
Dark Horse is continuing its relationship with Nintendo by handling the Super Mario Encyclopedia for western publishing. It offers a look at almost every Super Mario game created, starting from Super Mario Bros. up through Super Mario 3D World. You can expect descriptions of enemies, level layouts, tricks and glitches, and guides for finding all the collectibles. There are a total of 256 pages.

Genyo Takeda honored with Lifetime Achievement Award at 21st Annual D.I.C.E. Awards, Zelda wins Game of the Year

The 21st D.I.C.E. Awards were hosted earlier tonight, and it included a special honor for Nintendo’s Genyo Takeda, who spent 45 years with the company. Takeda was presented with the show’s seventh Lifetime Achievement Award. The full presentation, including Takeda’s speech, can be seen below.
As for the other awards, many Nintendo-related titles were selected across various categories. The big winner was Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which received a total of four selections, including Game of the Year.

Nintendo partnering with Bloomingdale’s on new “Let’s Play” campaign featuring exclusive merchandise and more

Nintendo and Bloomingdale’s have revealed a new “Let’s Play” campaign that will begin next month. Exclusive merchandise, in-store events, and activations will be featured as part of the promotion. The campaign will launch on March 10 and product will be available in select stores and at bloomingdales.com/Nintendo.
The men’s collection will include apparel, furnishings, and accessories by Sovereign Code, Onia, Original Penguin, Gitman Vintage, Barneys Cool, Bricktown, and Herschel. Also planned are S’well water bottles and Sunnylife ping-pong paddles adorned with classic Super Mario character images, along with Funboy inflatable tubes. Select Bloomingdale’s outlets will also feature Let’s Play pop-up shops that feature gaming stations where shoppers can try their hand at classic Nintendo games.
