The future of Pikmin
Posted on 3 years ago by Luiz in Features, General Nintendo, Videos | 0 comments
In a new video we’re sharing today, we’re thinking about the future of Pikmin.
At this point, the series has been around for a couple of decades. For some reason though, it doesn’t feel like it and Pikmin still feels fresh to me – maybe because there are only three mainline games (a number that Splatoon is already reaching in seven years). Nintendo seems to be very fond of the IP, promoting it outside of the main games with animations, a 3D spin-off, and now the recently-released mobile title Pikmin Bloom.
With all of this in mind, in today’s video, I decided to talk about the current situation of the series: eight years without a new game, a lot of reports about a “Pikmin 4”, a recent port of Pikmin 3 for the Switch, and now a new mobile game. What do you think lies ahead for the future of the Pikmin series? Watch the video below and share your opinion in the comments.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time clip provides first look at portals prototype

Former Nintendo developer Giles Goddard has provided a first look at a prototype for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time that originally featured portals.
Earlier this year, we heard from Goddard that there was some experimentation very early on with an idea involving Hyrule Castle. Similar to Super Mario 64, players would access different parts of the map through these portals. The mechanic was ultimately scrapped and Nintendo ended up going with a more open design in the end as players visit areas by traveling through Hyrule Field.

Can modern Nintendo still be scary?
Posted on 3 years ago by Luiz in General Nintendo, Videos | 0 comments
We’re just a little bit late, but here is our Halloween video! I’m a big fan of scary moments in Nintendo titles – those strange and dark instances in a game that is otherwise colorful and full of happiness. But recently, I get the feeling that things have changed as those moments are less present or sometimes very well hidden. Even so, they are still there.
In this video I highlight some of those more recent spooky moments in Nintendo games, commenting on how they’ve changed and the different approaches in various franchises. Featured titles range include Mario, Xenoblade, and more. For the full video, continue down below.

When you think of Fatal Frame, one of the first things that comes to mind is the Camera Obscura. However, when the series originally began, the development team actually considered a few other objects instead.
Nintendo Everything recently spoke with Keisuke Kikuchi, the producer of the Fatal Frame. There was some talk about the new release of Maiden of Black Water on Switch, but also discussion about the franchise and general. And when asked if there were other objects that were initially thought about before settling on the camera, he said:

GoldenEye 007 no longer “banned” in Germany following Nintendo request
Posted on 3 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
More than two decades after its original release on N64, GoldenEye 007 is no longer “banned” in Germany.
As explained by Mental Floss, the German federal agency Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien (Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons) set up an index in the 1980s in which a piece of media could be included if it were deemed harmful to young people. GoldenEye was one such title that was added – way back in 1998 – due to its death scenes and perceived glorification of violence. Being included on the list can significant hinder sales.

According to a Kotaku report, Nintendo has closed its California office. In doing so, about 100 employees have been displaced.
Nintendo of America has its headquarters in Redmond, Washington, but has had a couple of other offices – including the now closed location in California. As a result of the move, SVP of sales and marketing Nick Chavez has resigned and has now joined Kentucky Friend Chicken as the company’s new chief marketing officer. Chavez took over the SVP role after Doug Bowser was promoted to president of Nintendo of America following Reggie Fils Aime’s resignation in 2019.
