Sakurai says he’s been doing too much of the work himself on Smash Bros.

You can make the case that Super Smash Bros. is Masahiro Sakurai’s baby. He’s been there since the very start with the first entry on the N64, and since then, he’s directed every entry.
Going forward, it sounds like Sakurai would hope to have the development on Smash Bros. centered less around him. Speaking with The Verge, he mentioned that he’s “been doing too much of the work myself” and the series as it is “has too much of my personality poured into it.” For Smash Bros. to continue to succeed, he feels the need for the franchise to be about more than just one person’s vision.

Next Sonic game, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie confirmed for The Game Awards 2021

The Game Awards 2021 will have not one, but two new Sonic debuts.
On the game side of things, SEGA intends to show off the next core 3D entry in the franchise. The project was originally announced for Switch earlier this year with a brief CG teaser. Not much is known at present, though that should change come tomorrow. SEGA has thus far only committed to a 2022 release window. We actually don’t have a confirmed name just yet.

Nintendo loses court battle over eShop pre-order cancellation policy
Posted on 3 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
It’s been almost three years on the dot since Germany took Nintendo to court over the inability to cancel pre-orders on the eShop, particularly regarding Switch. About a year later, the case was won in Nintendo’s favor. You may recall that the decision was being appealed right after the initial was announced. And finally, there’s some new movement.
The main takeaway is that Nintendo’s win has been revoked, as the appeal court has determined that the company is in breach of law within Europe. Nintendo initially claimed to be in an “untenable” position given how the company is following the letter of the law stating “performance” has begun at the time of payment. However, the court ruled that “performance” doesn’t start until the game is actually playable.

Summer Game Fest returning in Summer 2022
Posted on 3 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Switch | 0 comments
Summer Game Fest will be continuing for its third consecutive year and is set to return in 2022, creator Geoff Keighley has announced. As was the case in 2020 and 2021, it will take place during the summer.
Summer Game Fest was originally created as one of the ways to replace E3. During the early stages of the covid pandemic in 2020, it was impossible to have large-scale gatherings and many companies were scrambling with their plans due to much uncertainty at the time. While Summer Game Fest was more of a hub for gaming events in 2020, Keighley put on a proper show this past June. It had some notable news and announcements such as Metal Slug Tactics, Two Point Campus, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance for Switch.
More information about Summer Game Fest 2022 will be shared at a later date. In the meantime, Keighley is preparing for The Game Awards 2021, which is happening in just under a week.
