A Hat in Time dev currently working on becoming a licensed Nintendo developer

We’ve been covering Gears for Breakfast’s fantastic-looking platformer A Hat in Time for a few months now. However, even though it’s been expected to hit Wii U, the game hasn’t actually been confirmed. So what’s the status of a potential eShop version?
Gears for Breakfast director Jonas Kaerlev told us that the studio is “currently in authorization at Nintendo to become a 3rd party developer,” adding that “the kind people at NoA are helping us through the process”. Kaerlev said that once the authorization period is over, the company will “have more to tell about the possibilities”.
Some of the first details on Game Center CX’s mini-games have appeared online. Siliconera has the translation, which we’ve rounded up in bullet-point form below.
Rumi and the Magic Broom
– Somewhat similar to the original Mario Bros. arcade game
– Arino wanted to implement an idea he got from a mirror stage in Prince of Persia
– This resulted in having the wizard enemies shoot control-changing waves
– If you get hit, your controls will be reversed
Wing Hero
– Another idea: Arino wanted to use the 3DS microphone to use and have players blow into as an escape mechanism when things get dangerous
– When you think your airship will crash, blow into the mic to create a gust of air which boosts you higher to avoid crashing
Saurus Boy
– Somewhat similar to Mega Man
– Can change into different dinosaur costumes
– Each costume has its own special abilities
– Use their effects to fight your way to the end of each stage
Soma’s Treasure
– Need to find all of the stage’s coins before time runs out
– Coins are hidden
– Need an ability to see them
– Using the ability will lower your overall surrounding vision while it’s active
Break Shoot
– Like a mix of Pong, Brick Breaker, and Super Dodge Ball
– Need to find a way to get the ball across the opponent’s side before they can get one past you
Noborou (Let’s Climb)
– Action puzzle game
– Continue climbing on the blocks that fall before the floors do
– As you continue going higher, the blocks will fall at different rates, leaving you pretty limited to what you can do

A look at Risky Boots in Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments

WayForward has given a look at Risky Boots in Shantae: Half-Genie Hero – the first time she’ll be appearing in an HD release.
Below is the official overview the studio shared a short while ago:
The self-proclaimed Queen of the Seven Seas wants to rule over Sequin Land….after all, someone of her exquisite beauty deserves nothing less! This bodacious buccaneer pillages poor Scuttle Town time and again in search of any ancient technology that could lead the way to world domination.
Her shadowy Tinkerbat crewmen are loyal and endless in numbers, constructing anything Risky Boots might need — from clockwork robots to steam powered doomsday weapons. Armed with a flintlock pistol and scimitar, the nefarious Risky Boots is ready to punish her foes up close and personal, or simply shoot them in the back.
Disney very pleased with Disney Infinity sales thus far
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii, Wii U | 0 comments
Disney Infinity finally launched last month after being in development for a number of years. While we don’t have exact sales figures, Disney CFO Jay Rasulo said at the 2013 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference this week that the company is very pleased with the game’s sales thus far.
Disney Infinity released with “huge interest,” Rasulo stated. It may be early, but sales “have been on par” – or maybe even a bit better – than Skylanders.
“I don’t want to be definitive about something that is in its early days, but if you think about a really great product that has come out recently that had some similarities to Infinity, which is Skylanders, Skylanders Giants in particular … our sales have been on par with that even though we launched in August and they do theirs in September or October. We’re on that scale, maybe better.
“All indications are great, but these are very early days.”
Rasulo confirmed that Disney Infinity’s average player is 13 years-old. This is older than Disney anticipated, and there’s even a “certain percent” of users over 20. Most gamers have been picking up Disney Infinity on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Zelda: Wind Waker HD site has an awesome Easter egg
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 1 Comment

Nintendo has tucked away a pretty neat Easter egg in its newly-opened Zelda: Wind Waker HD site. Buried in the source code is none other than… the triforce.
This does appear to be an Easter egg, as the triforce code has no impact on the site itself. It’s displayed in a comments block – meaning it doesn’t influence the site’s look or functionality.
I suppose Nintendo wanted fans to do a little digging and come across this little discovery for themselves!
Thanks to Jake for the tip.
