It was confirmed last week that Sonic the Hedgehog will be having its own panel at SXSW later this month. An additional blurb from the expo teases “a special reveal” that will be made for the series’ 25th anniversary.

Here’s what it states:

“Yuji Naka (Sonic Original Creator), Takashi Iizuka (Head of Sonic Team), Roger Smith (Voice of Sonic the Hedgehog), Mike Pollock (Voice of Dr. Eggman), Austin Keys (Sega), Aaron Webber (Sega)

25 years had to go fast, and here we are today wondering where it all went. Join the original creator of Sonic the Hedgehog, along with the amazing production heads responsible for bringing the franchise to life, for an in-depth analysis of where Sonic came from and where he’s heading going forward. A special reveal will be made as part of the celebration for this anniversary milestone.”

TSSZ News actually says that the reveal won’t be a new game. If it’s something else, I’m not quite sure what it could be!

Last week, BitFinity published another Tadpole Treble video showing the Composition Mode. You can see various fan creations below.

The Game Atelier ended up cancelling its Kickstarter project Flying Hamsters 2 and morphed it into the Wonder Boy spiritual sequel Monster Boy. The game is finally wrapping up development and should be launching in a few months – but not on Nintendo platforms just yet.

Publisher FDG Entertainment said last year that Wonder Boy would be considered for Wii U. As of now, that’s still the case. The team currently has its hands full with current platforms, though if Wonder Boy sells well, that’ll increase the chances of something like a Wii U version.

FDG Entertainment wrote in a blog post recently:

“We hear you loud and clear! There’s PS Vita, WiiU and even more. We totally agree that these platforms need to get Monster Boy, too! We love Nintendo! However, it’s impossible for us to work on all portings at the same time. Also, the game needs to sell well enough so we’re able to finance the porting work as it can be very time consuming. Since we don’t have any guarantee for success, we just can’t announce additional platforms at the moment.”

Some folks have been digging within the files of the Super Mario World SNES release on New 3DS to see what else might be on the horizon. And as luck would have it, a decent-sized list was found which may point to upcoming titles for the Virtual Console. Given the names, this looks to be primarily for Japan.

Head past the break for the full lineup. All credit goes to Normmatt for putting the list together.

We have another new Pokken Tournament promo video, which is posted below. It shows a match between Pikachu Libre and Machamp as well as how to pull off certain moves.

Super Mario Maker should be receiving another new costume very soon. Some players managed to get their hands on Mashiko, but the outfit is no longer available. It seems that new Event Courses for Mashiko and Wolf Link went live very briefly several hours ago.

Mashiko, otherwise known as Mary O, is Super Mario Maker’s manual guide.

We’ll let you know when Mashiko and her new Event Course are officially made available.

Thanks to jikes10 for the tip.
