Original: Nintendo will release the 3DS XL Limited Edition in North America, it has been confirmed. The item is listed in an upcoming ad for Kmart. If you intend to purchase the system, you’ll need to fork over $199.99.

Donkey Kong Racing was one of those mysterious Nintendo titles that dropped off the map after its initial announcement. It was first revealed at E3 2001 – trailer/tech demo and all – but Rare ended up being acquired by Microsoft and the project was canned.

Moon Chronicles takes inspiration from Metroid

Renegade Kid’s Moon Chronicles was inspired by Metroid, studio co-founder Jools Watsham has said.
Watsham, speaking with Siliconera, pointed out that he looked to Super Metroid for the flow and level design. Metroid Prime: Hunters also helped inspire Moon’s control scheme.

Retro says Wii U is “a powerhouse”, new game has been in the works for a few months

Retro Studios president and CEO Michael Kelbaugh commented on several topics while speaking with GameSpot, including the Wii U’s technical capabilities.
According to Kelbaugh, the console is “a powerhouse”, adding, “It’s more than adequate to make great games on.”
“Unfortunately, the perception is that it’s not a very powerful machine. That’s just not true. It’s a powerhouse. It’s more than adequate to make great games on.”
Kelbaugh also mentioned that the Wii U is a “great box to make games on.”

Style Savvy: Trendsetters getting updated version in Japan

Nintendo is working on a new version of Style Savvy: Trendsetters for Japan. This will launch in stores on April 17, though a free update will also be available for the previous version starting on March 26.
Here’s what the update entails:
– Go on the walkway using your own coordinated style in MC Mode (previously needed to match your clothing to a certain theme)
– MC will then judge your fashion sense
– New “Dream Boyfriend” mode takes place in your dreams
– In the mode, you can create your own ideal boyfriend
– Can go to all kinds of different places on dates as well, in addition to changing his appearance
– The florist will also be back to tell your fortune according to your dress coordination, once a day
– See all the characters you’ve encountered in Teagan’s special effects AR studio
– Use your 3DS camera and AR cards and check what kind of reactions they put on show as they come to life
– Visit the home of Emmylou, your former co-worker
– Emmylou will be giving you all kinds of advice on life and how to manage your shop
– Out on April 17 in Japan
– Update the previously-released version for free starting on March 26
