Rumors

The silver Mario and Dark Pit amiibo have now been added to Best Buy’s system. However, Palutena – who launches alongside Dark Pit in July – is nowhere to be seen. This has led to early speculation that Palutena will be an exclusive at a different retailer.

Take this news with a grain of salt for now. The situation should become clearer within the next couple of months.

Reddit user “Frostwynd”, who has a proven track record when it comes to amiibo information, has given some insight into what we can expect for availability of upcoming figures at Best Buy. The new Smash Bros. and Splatoon amiibo could ship in limited supplies to the retailer.

In one state, the projected stock numbers for the latest amiibo were as follows:

Lucina – 2
Robin – 2
Wario – 3
Pac-Man – 6
Charizard – 6
Splatoon 3-pack – 5
Inkling Girl – 3
Inkling Boy – 3

These numbers were pretty much the same across the board, with very little variance. They’re also not expected to change at all before release date. Assuming they’re completely accurate, it might be tough to find Lucina and Robin when the new amiibo figures launch later this month.

The Legend of Legacy appears to be coming west. During the latest Shin Megami Tensei Network podcast, Atlus PR manager John Hardin apparently let it slip that the RPG is being localized.

Hardin said:

We did announce The Legend of Legacy is coming over here, and we have another one in the can too that I can’t talk about just yet. But another really niche Japanese game that actually isn’t out yet, we’re bringing that over for the 3DS later this year. What could it be?

Regarding the other mystery 3DS title, it’s possible that Hardin may have been referring to Stella Glow. Some people are speculating that he may have forgotten which of those two 3DS games Atlus had already announced. Stella Glow was confirmed for the west just over a month ago, while The Legend of Legacy still hasn’t been officially announced for North America and Europe. That could be changing soon.

Nintendo has started reprinting the Villager amiibo in Japan. I’m marking this as a rumor to be safe, but it’s looking like a few, small changes were made to the figure.

As pointed out by My Amiibo News:

The original Villager’s eyes appear more elongated and are placed evenly between the hairline and the nose. The reprint shows changes in the eye shape and placement. Its eyes look somewhat rounder and are placed lower on the face, hugging the nose a lot more.

How do you guys feel about the changes? Which version do you prefer?

Capcom is supporting Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate with free DLC each month. We’ve seen things like new quests, items, and more. DLC launches during the first Friday of every month, so another round of new content is expected on May 1.

monster-hunter-4-dlc-collab

This week’s GameStop ad may reveal some of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate’s May DLC. Pictures showing Palico equipment based on Mega Man and Blanka are in the circular, along with armor featuring Samus’ Varia Suit.

All of these collaboration items were announced in the past – it’s just a matter of when they’ll be available. Capcom previously released a Link-based equipment set, plus Super Mario Bros. and Sonic-based Palico equipment.

May 1 is just on the horizon, so it shouldn’t be long before we find out if this rumor holds any weight.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

If we’re to assume that a new customer service email from a Nintendo representative is accurate, all amiibo figures will be restocked in Europe this summer. A message sent to one fan states that they’ll be returning this summer “in larger numbers than before.”

Here’s the fully translated email:

We’re sorry for how everything went. Unfortunately you are
not alone with this problem. Nintendo has underestimated the worldwide demand for Amiibo and therefore delivered not enough Amiibo. Our apologies. But we have good news for you. The Amiibo are all back on the market in the summer of 2015 in larger numbers than before. Once again our apologies.

Sincerely,
The Nintendo Team

Polygon is reporting that Disney Interactive is in the process of readying Star Wars figures as part of the launch of the new Disney Infinity game. Assuming the site’s report can be believed, the first Star Wars figures will release by the time the upcoming film hits theaters later in the year.

That’s not the only Disney-Infinity-related news to have come out today. A bunch of new figures seem to have leaked for Disney Infinity 3.0, including Olaf, Mulan, Inside-Out characters, and more.

Disney Infinity 3.0 is definitely something that will be happening later this year. Although no official announcements have been made on that front just yet, the first round of toys relating to the game may have leaked ahead of a reveal.

Chinese retailer Taobao recently put up various images for Frozen’s Olaf, Tron Legacy’s Sam Flynn and Quorra, classic Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Mulan, and five characters from Inside Out. Infinity Inquirer picked up on the product listings, but the site’s post was taken down “at the request of Disney Interactive”. Taobao also removed all references to the new characters.

We’ll keep you updated as the situation develops.

Update by Brian: Cutting Room Floor, a website that specializes in unused/cut content, has been able to verify the authenticity of the Ryu sound files (thanks Anthony):

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily confirm that Ryu will be included as upcoming Smash Bros. DLC. We’ll just have to wait and see how everything pans out!

According to a poster on Reddit, who is claiming to be a part of the 3DS modding scene, there has been code discovered buried in the latest update to go live for Super Smash Bros. that would lead some to believe more characters will be to come in future DLC. It would appear that sound files have been interpreted as clues for two possible future additions.

One file is a Victory sound for Roy from the Fire Emblem series. The second one is also a sound file that includes the Ryu music from Street Fighter II. At this stage this is purely speculation as Nintendo has been known to leave unused data in games in the past.

We are sure we will see more DLC in the future for Super Smash. Bros. but for now this is just a rumor.

Update: The dream seems to be dead (thanks EdLambdaTeos). This goes back as far as November of last year, with a GameFAQs member claiming to have found a file with similar contents as what’s posted below. The same user said last week that he made the whole thing up. Doh!

Mario Kart 8 has a file system with a listing of tracks and corresponding streaming audio. Following the release of the game’s first round of DLC, there were 8 tracks in the pack and 13 entries.

Here’s a listing of what we received from the initial batch of downloadable content:

GC_YOSHI_CIRCUIT = GCN Yoshi Circuit
SFC_RAINBOW_ROAD = SNES Rainbow Road
WII_WARIOSMINE = Wii Wario’s Gold Mine
WU_DRAGONROAD = Dragon Driftway
WU_EXCITEBIKE = Excitebike Arena
WU_HYRULE = Hyrule Circuit
WU_ICEPARK = Ice Ice Outpost
WU_MUTECITY = Mute City

These tracks were also included, but did not show up as DLC:

3DS_NEOBOWSERCITY = 3DS Neo Bowser City
GC_BABYPARK = GCN Baby Park
WU_ANIMAL = Animal Crossing
WU_METRO = ?
WU_WOODS = ?

Could these tracks be featured in the next wave of Mario Kart 8 DLC? This is complete speculation at the moment, but if it’s accurate, we could be seeing tracks like Neo Bowser City and Baby Park. People are also wondering if “Metro” could be implying “Metroid”, but I’m not too sure at the moment!
