Switch has a major game landing this week in Super Mario Odyssey. It’s not the only 3D platformer heading to the console, however. Tomorrow, Poi is coming to Switch after initially missing out on Wii U.
We spoke with developer PolyKid just ahead of the launch to learn more about Poi. The studio chatted with us about the game itself, making the move from Wii U to Switch, and having to go up against Super Mario Odyssey in the same week.
Here’s our full discussion:
Target tends to hold a “buy 2, get 1 free” deal around the holidays. This weekend, the offer will be back once again, but with a notable exception.
Target’s sale officially starts on October 29. Almost every game is eligible – except for Switch. None of the console’s titles will be included. On the bright side, 3DS will be represented here, and presumably Wii U as well. An early flier highlights Pokemon, Super Mario Maker, and Smash Bros.
The sale should last through November 4.
I can hardly believe that I’m writing this, but Nintendo Everything is now ten years old. We first opened our doors way back on October 23, 2007. 10 years is a long time to be doing anything. In the age of the internet especially, it practically feels like we’re a dinosaur at this point.
Here’s something very neat about Switch’s new firmware update. If you’ve installed the new 4.0.0 update, you can get GameCube controllers to work with the console. You just need the Wii U GameCube Adapter that Nintendo sold back in the day.
Once you’ve plugged the adapter in, you can pair the GameCube controllers to your Switch in the main menu. On the controller settings page, press L+R as you normally would. And that’s it! It should be working when you’re back on the main menu, and can work with games like Fire Emblem Warriors.
The only issue is that the GameCube controller doesn’t have a left Z button – there’s only the one Z button on the right, and only has a start button, so you can’t go back to the main menu. But hey: maybe GameCube controller support could be brought back for the eventual Smash Bros. Switch or theoretical GameCube Virtual Console?
My Nintendo has updated with two more rewards in preparation of Super Mario Odyssey. Another couple of wallpapers, in red and white variations, are up here. Each one costs 50 Platinum Points.
In other My Nintendo news, a lapel pin will be handed out at Nintendo NY on October 26 and October 27. You’ll need to check in with your QR Code. More information is located on the page here.
