Dark Souls: Remastered will no longer release for Switch on May 25, Bandai Namco has announced. It will now arrive sometime this summer.

Along with the game, the Solaire of Astora amiibo has also been pushed back to the summer as well.

NBA Playgrounds 2

Following up on yesterday’s classification from Australia, Saber Interactive has announced that NBA Playgrounds 2 is happening. The game is due out this summer.

NBA Playgrounds 2 features a new lineup of online and local multiplayer game modes, new courts, and more. Here’s a further breakdown on what’s new:

Saber Interactive appears to be working on a sequel to NBA Playgrounds. In Australia, a classification for NBA Playgrounds 2 has been listed. It was just added to the database today.

We’ve yet to receive an official announcement for NBA Playgrounds 2 at this time. However, the Australian database only rates authentic products – so we should be hearing something very soon.

Nintendo Switch

The latest Switch update has just gone live. As of now, all system users can download firmware version 5.0.2.

Today’s update makes general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience. Nintendo specifically calls out the following:

Billy Mitchell has been the focus of much scrutiny this week. Twin Galaxies determined that Mitchell’s high scores achieved in Donkey Kong were not earned on natural arcade hardware, but rather through emulation which leaves the door open to cheating. Mitchell’s scores were thrown out, and he was banned from submitting future scores in the future. Guinness World Records is also wiping the slate clean.

We haven’t heard from Mitchell himself this week – until today. At the Midwest Gaming Classic in Milwaukee, he offered up the following statement:

SEGA Ages

SEGA Ages kicked off the weekend with a new announcement for Switch owners. Starting this summer, SEGA and M2 will be publishing classic games on the eShop. Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, Thunder Force IV, Alex Kidd, and Gain Ground are among the confirmed titles. During a stage show at SEGA Fes, more details about the download initiative were shared.

Once the last wave of 3D Classics on 3DS wrapped up, it was decided that it would be a waste to just leave it there. That’s what initially led to SEGA and M2 once again partnering on classic games for Switch.

Travis Strikes Again is quite a bit different from the original No More Heroes games. You’ll be entering the worlds / genres of a few different titles, including action, racing, and puzzle.

The origins of these different games are rather interesting. In an interview with SideQuesting, director Suda51 revealed that the team took inspiration from “several old projects that I had in mind that I made project documents about, but they never went anywhere.”

The first Valkyria Chronicles is heading to Switch, SEGA announced at SEGA Fes 2018 today. In Japan, it will be released as “Valkyria Chronicles for Nintendo Switch” this fall via the eShop.

The first Valkyria Chronicles on Switch will include previously-released DLC. Also, those who purchase Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be able to pick up the newly-announced first title for 500 yen.

Speaking of Valkyria Chronicles 4, the title will now arrive this fall in Japan as opposed to summer. The change will not have an impact on the western launch as it was already scheduled for fall in North America and Europe.

To kick off SEGA Fes 2018, one of the first announcements made was SEGA Ages for Switch. In partnership with M2, a bunch of classic games will begin making their way to the eShop this summer.

A “Classic Game Stage” was just hosted at SEGA Fes 2018 where some additional details about SEGA Ages were revealed. First up, below is the full lineup of titles confirmed (there will be at least 15 in total):

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

The soundtrack for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is massive. Despite all of the music the game has, an official OST release is happening. Fans in Japan will be able to pick up the soundtrack on May 23.

Back when the soundtrack was announced, lead composer Yasunori Mitsuda wrote up a blog explaining how difficult it was putting everything together. Fortunately, nextday from VGMdb translated a good portion of the post.
