It’s been six years since we last caught up with Adam Howden, the voice of Shulk. A lot has happened with the Xenoblade series since then – including a new version of the very original Wii game for Switch.

We felt that with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition having released earlier in the year, now would be a great time to catch up with Howden once again. It’s a particularly good time since Howden contributed to the game in a big way. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition features a brand new epilogue, Future Connected, focused on Melia and Shulk.

You can read our full interview below. Note that the discussion contains some spoiler-related information pertaining to the series, but we’ve labeled that part at the very end and separated it from the rest of the interview.

A new month rolled right on in this week. Now that we’re in November, we want to know what you’ve been playing.

Are you going through some of Nintendo’s recent releases like Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit or Pikmin 3 Deluxe? Or perhaps you’re trying out the games dropped as part of the latest Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase such as No More Heroes or Part Time UFO? No matter the case, let us know in the comments below.

The last time Bakugan saw any sort of video game outside of mobile devices was back in 2011 with Rise of the Resistance on DS. Almost nine years later, to the dot, the series is back with Champions of Vestroia. I don’t think Bakugan ever had that sort of grip or longevity something like Yu-Gi-Oh! or even Beyblade has, but it’s gathered enough of a following to warrant continued support of the property so many years later, especially now with the new Switch game. The anime continues on with Bakugan: Armored Aliance following a sort of “reboot” with Battle Planet prior to that, so Champions of Vestroia just adds to a big push from SEGA Toys and Spin Master for the series to return to the forefront where it once sat as Property of the Year in 2009.

NEP 103 podcast nintendo direct

This week on Nintendo Everything Podcast, we’ve got so much to say about the excellent Nintendo Direct, No More Heroes, Cloud gaming on the Switch, Bravely Default II, the Hyrule Warriors demo, and more. This Direct was basically made for Oni Dino. Galen has some theories on Nintendo’s new plans for mid-generation reform with Cloud gaming. Also, that Hyrule Warriors gameplay is surprisingly complex; come for our early impressions. Later on, we answer some listener mail where we talk about video games inspiring or impacting us as an art form.

We’ve recently created a podcast discord for listeners to chill, chat, and make friends. Check out links and timestamps below and come hang out.

There are only a couple of months remaining in 2020, but Nintendo still had one final Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase in store for the year. Another presentation aired on Wednesday.

The Nintendo Direct Mini had a few announcements, surprise releases, and more. In terms of what’s entirely new, No More Heroes 1 and 2 were finally announced – and immediately released – for Switch. Speaking of surprise launches, Part Time UFO dropped on the Switch eShop, as did Control Ultimate Edition – Cloud Version. Other new announcements included Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, Hitman 3 – Cloud Version, Griftlands: Nintendo Switch Edition, and Surviving the Aftermath. There were a few game updates as well, including first proper gameplay of No More Heroes III, a final release date for Bravely Default II, and a new look at Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – complete with a demo. We have a full recap announcement outlining everything that was shown here.

Mad Rat Dead marches to the beat of its own drum. NEP 102 podcast fire emblem

This week on Nintendo Everything Podcast, we’re gonna party like it’s 1990 because Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light is getting an English release. Galen then tells us how much of a creativity vacuum he is in character creation with Baldur’s Gate 3. We also explore: is early access good for consumers? Later, Oni Dino is not down for Prinny 2 at bedtime but is down for picross. There’s also lots of news bits to talk about, culminating in Fire Emblem. But what’s the deal with the limited availability? Another game to the pile. Is March 31st significant?

Atelier Ryza 2

The Atelier series doesn’t typically see direct sequels, but that’s exactly the direction Koei Tecmo and Gust decided to take with Atelier Ryza 2. Following the first game’s massive success, the sequel arrives this December in Japan and late January 2021 in the west.

Nintendo Everything recently had the opportunity to speak with Gust brand manager and Atelier Ryza series producer Junzo Hosoi. We chatted about what’s new with the battle system, the game’s characters (including their designs), and more. Also, for more general topics, Hosoi talked about Switch, addressed the possibility of Atelier remakes, and shared a few thoughts about the franchise’s future.

Our discussion can be read in full below.

It was about a month ago that Nintendo announced that it’s sunsetting the 3DS. Production has discontinued, meaning no additional units will be shipped to stores. Developers can still technically release new games and the eShop will remain online, but for all intents and purposes, the 3DS’ life cycle is over.

The 3DS originally launched in 2011, so it’s been around for nearly a decade. A massive amount of titles have been released over that span. From Nintendo itself you’ve got games like Super Mario 3D Land, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Fire Emblem Awakening. Third-parties supported the system with Monster Hunter, the Bravely series, and Shin Megami Tensei IV.
