Runner3 introduces its Retro Levels
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop | 0 comments
One component of the Switch exclusive Runner3 is the inclusion of Retro Levels. As part of a new blog post, Choice Provisions provided an in-depth explanation of these stages.
Here’s the full rundown:
I’m happy to report that my work on the Runner3 Retro Levels is (mostly) COMPLETE! I want to remind everyone that this is *really* a video game within a video game. The Retro Levels are made up of 3 distinct worlds, each with 9 levels and a wacky boss battle. The levels are short-but-challenging jaunts in which you’re tasked with finding 5 elusive new collectibles never before seen in the series…THE GILDANS!
Once you’ve found as many as you can, feel free to jump headlong into that sketchy-looking mystery hole over there. I’m sure it’s safe:

An update for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been released that supposedly fixes some of the game’s framerate problems in certain areas. The folks over at GameXplain put that to the test and released a video where they compare the game’s performance before and after applying the patch. Turns out that it does indeed cause the game to run at an improved framerate. Check out the full video below:
Rerolling abilities on gear returns in Splatoon 2
Posted on 8 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in News, Switch | 3 Comments
Just like in the first game, you will have the ability to reroll abilities on a piece of gear in Splatoon 2. This task is once again performed by a sea urchin – not Spyke though. Instead, a new character called “Spiky” (this is his Japanese name, could likely be changed in the English), who is said to be an admirer of Spyke, will do this for you. In the example image, rerolling all three abilities on a pair of shoes is shown to cost 20,000 gold. It will also be possible to use Super Sea Snails to pay for this service, though we don’t know yet how they can be obtained in Splatoon 2.
When you reroll abilities, you will also get “Ability Fragments”, which can be used to add abilities to a piece of gear, if you collect enough of them.

Konami didn’t provide a timetable for the DLC nor specifics about its contents. An official announcement should be made within the next few days.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild update out now (version 1.1.1)
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch, Wii U | 100 Comments
Update: Nintendo’s single note about the update: “Adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.” We’ll probably need for an outlet such as Digital Foundry to conduct tests to see if the frame rate has truly been improved, and how much.
Original: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild players now have access to a new patch. Previously, the game was at version 1.1.0. After applying the update, it will be at 1.1.1.
Nintendo has yet to provide any update notes for today’s download. Given the small change in versions, it’s likely nothing too substantial, though some say that the frame rate has been improved. We’ll let you know when we have official details about the patch.
Thanks to Pokeboy990 and Brian for the tip.
Switch downloads games faster in Sleep Mode
Posted on 8 years ago by Zack in Videos | 5 Comments
GameXplain recently released a video in which they test if the Switch will download games faster in Sleep Mode. While some complications arose in figuring out just when the data had actually finished downloading, the results seem to show games being downloaded about 15% faster in Sleep Mode compared to the consoles normal state.
While not a massive increase in download speed, it’s sure to be of use down the line to some Switch owners. You can check out the video for yourself below.
