Nintendo typically puts out an Indie World Showcase around this time of year, and the latest presentation was finally delivered this week. The newest and greatest indie games were shown off for Switch as part of a 20-minute presentation.

Well over a dozen projects were shown. There were brand new announcements, shadowdrops, and updates on previously-known titles. Oxenfree II, OlliOlli World, Fez, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon, and The House of the Dead: Remake were among the featured games. You can find a full recap of everything shown here.

On Friday, Nintendo of America filed a lawsuit against Gary Bowser, an apparent leader of hacking group Team Xecuter. It claims that Bowser infringed on the company’s copyright in creating and selling hacks. Polygon notes that Nintendo is pursuing two trafficking counts and one copyright violation.

The lawsuit refers to Bowser’s operation as “an international pirate ring” that sells Switch hacking devices designed to circumvent security measures. These devices allow users to run pirated games.

Mon-Yu

Experience has shared the boxart for Mon-Yu, which we have above. The game launches this summer in Japan.

The official name was previously announced as “Monster wo Taoshite Tsuyoi Ken ya Yoroi wo Te ni Shinasai. Yuusha Tai ga Maou wo Taosu Sono Hi wo Shinjiteimasu”. It has since changed to become even longer. Experience now says the name is “Monster wo Taoshite Tsuyoi Ken ya Yoroi wo Te ni Shinasai. Shindemo Akiramezu ni Tsuyoku Narinasai. Yuusha Tai ga Maou wo Taosu Sono Hi wo Shinjiteimasu”. Mon-Yu remains the short version.

Super Rare Games is expanding its lineup of physical release on Switch with five more additions. Abzu, Deponia Collection, Inmost, Super Crush KO, and Vigil: The Longest Night will be offered in boxed form.

Most of these releases are self-explanatory. However, Deponia Collection is a bit of an outlier in that it will feature four titles: Deponia, Chaos on Deponia, Goodbye Deponia, and Deponia Doomsday.

All of these games will be sold physically through Super Rare Games later in 2021.

Nintendo Switch

This month’s NPD report brought plenty of news concerning software sales in the United States for February, but there are a few hardware tidbits as well. It’s now been revealed that Switch was the best-selling platform in terms of both units and dollars.

We’ll also mention that Switch was the unit sales leader in the first quarter of 2021 as a whole. PlayStation 5 came out on top in terms of dollar sales for the period, though it’s worth noting that the console costs more.
