Life is Strange: True Colors

The Life is Strange series has yet to grace a Nintendo platform, but the ESRB has reason to think that its latest entry is bound for Switch. Life is Strange: True Colors was rated for the console earlier today.

Life is Strange: True Colors was first announced last month, though there has been no word on a Switch release. Either the ESRB made an error here, or Square Enix is saving news about putting it on Nintendo’s platform for a later date.

Ghostrunner

There’s more to come for Ghostrunner following its launch last year. 505 Games announced acquisition of the IP this week while the current title will be receiving additional content in the months ahead.

This spring, the first-person cyberpunk action-slasher game will be receiving two new game modes. First up is Kill Run Mode, “a challenging mode where players have limited time to complete levels”. A Photo Mode will be added as well following player feedback. Premium cosmetic DLC is additionally scheduled for this spring, with even more content to come leading into the fall.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars

Original (3/29): Nintendo is pulling the plug on Super Mario 3D All-Stars once March is all wrapped up, so there’s been an increase in sales activity as of late. In the UK over the past week, sales actually rose 276 percent.

Monster Hunter Rise was a new entry and immediately climbed to the top of the charts. Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, another new title, came in at #15.

Tying in with April Fools’ Day, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are hosting a special Max Raid Battle event. It’s all about Magikarp, though you can’t actually catch the creature. The good news is that you can still obtain items by going through the battle.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield’s latest Max Raid Battle will last for just a single day. After that, things will return to normal.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers

D3Publisher has nailed down a final release date for the western version of Earth Defense Force: World Brothers. The game will launch digitally in North America and Europe as well as Asia on May 27.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers originally debuted on December 24, 2020 in Japan.

The latest Japanese hardware sales from Famitsu are as follows:

Switch has received a few different entries in the Oddworld series, and it now looks like they’ll soon be bundled together. Over on Amazon France, the retailer is listing Oddworld Collection. The package will contain Munch’s Oddysee, New ‘n’ Tasty, and Stranger’s Wrath.

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, so we’re waiting on the finer details such as whether this will be a worldwide release. Regardless, Amazon France lists Oddworld Collection for May 27. Pre-orders are open here.

Sol Cresta

At this time last year, PlatinumGames “announced” Sol Cresta, which many assumed was an April Fools’ Day joke. The same game has now returned and it turns out that the project is moving forward.

Sol Cresta is a shoot ’em up title for Switch modeled after Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta. It will also be the first part of the new “Neo Classic Arcade” series in collaboration with Hamster.

Over on the Japanese Switch eShop, a demo for R-Type Final 2 went live earlier today. Take a look at some footage in the video below.

R-Type Final 2 launches for Switch on April 29 in Japan and in the west on April 30.
