Switch

Square Enix’s handling of Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster’s physical release on Switch is a bit out of the ordinary. While the first game will be included on a cartridge, we’ve been hearing that the second game will be in the box as a digital code.

That still holds true for North America and Europe. In fact, the European packaging has already been updated to show that Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster is download only:

Ahead of its release next month, we have a whole bunch of art from Yoshi’s Crafted World showing various characters and more. Check out the full set of images below.

God Eater 3 broke the series’ tradition of having the main series appear on portable systems. Whereas past entries appeared on handhelds like the PSP and PS Vita, the latest title was only on PS4 and PC.

In an interview with IGN, a couple of developers were asked about possible Switch support given its portable nature. God Eater producer Yusuke Tomizawa first stated the following:

Did you know that Piranha Plant was initially imagined as a tri-jumps character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Researcher Meshima discovered that the team lowered the amount of maximum jumps from two to three in the day one. Why this happened is unknown.

Interestingly, the game’s motion folder still has the unused third jump animation. Here’s a look:

Nintendo has published what appears to be the first Switch screenshots from Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. We have to caution that store pages sometimes contain images that were originally taken on other consoles, but the consensus is that the ones below were in fact captured on the Big N’s system.

As we reported a short while ago, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is still on track for a June launch on Switch.

Since Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled was announced at The Game Awards a couple of months ago, there were a few concerns about the Switch version. A couple of retailers pulled down their listings which brought about worry that it might have been delayed or cancelled. Of course, Activision never actually said anything that would indicate such a thing happening.

Any remaining fears can now be put to rest. A number of retailers have opened pre-orders, including Amazon and GameStop. Amazon UK has it here.

Like other versions, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is coming to Switch on June 21 as previously announced. We also have the game’s boxart above.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night creator Koji Igarashi took to Kickstarter this week as part of the game’s latest news update. In the new post, Igarashi went over another gameplay system: creating shards from crafting.

Here’s the full rundown:

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Last week’s issue of Famitsu had a different type of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate interview. While we’re typically used to hearing from director Masahiro Sakurai, the magazine caught up with two people heavily involved with the music side of things. Hideki Sakamoto (who wrote the main theme song) and Erina Koga (who sung the main theme in Japanese) chatted with Famitsu. There was talk about the creation of the music, what the recording session was like, and more.

You can read our full translation of the interview below. We do also have a brief comment from Sakurai as well who commented on his approach to the main theme this time around.

Team Sonic Racing

SEGA today released a behind-the-scenes look at the creators behind Team Sonic Racing’s soundtrack, including Sonic Team Sound Director, Jun Senoue, along with Act. on drums and Takeshi Taneda on bass. Have a look at the video below.
