Another round of Nintendo deals are coming to Best Buy this Sunday.

First, there’s a buy 1, get 1 40% off sale for Wii U and 3DS titles. The deal appears to be in-store only, as the online offer provides consumers with a $20 gift card with the purchase of two select games (see the fine print).

Best Buy will also be selling all eShop cards for 10% off. While it’s not the best deal, you’ll be able to save $25 on the Super Mario 3D World Wii U bundle as well.

Alright, it’s time to wrap up this series of features by counting down the best first party games on the Nintendo DS. Well, first and second party games, really. If it was published by Nintendo, it’s fair game. Anyway, the ten Nintendo-published games you guys voted as the best on the console are as follows (hope you like plumbers and Pokémon)…

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy is out today. If you’re aware of the series, you probably know what you’re getting yourself into with this digital collection. That’s one of the reasons why we’re not doing a traditional review on Nintendo Everything. Still, I’ve spent some time with the remastered trilogy, and I wanted to share a few thoughts.

I’ve played the first two Ace Attorney games and loved them dearly. I have fond memories of Justice for All in particular. I’ve also now played quite a bit of the third.

Square Enix has revealed a new addition to the “Theatrhythm” series. Theatrhythm Dragon Quest is in development for 3DS, the company announced today.

Square Enix is releasing Theatrhythm Dragon Quest in Japan on March 25. Pricing is set at 5,800 yen. Those who attend Jump Festa next week will be able to get their hands on a demo and view a first trailer.

Seijiro Tomita has been engaged with a longstanding battle with Nintendo over a glasses-free 3D patent. Tomita won a lawsuit last year, and we heard this past January that Nintendo would be forced to pay Tomita Technologies 1.82 percent of the wholesale price on every 3DS sold.

Now we have a new development in this lengthy saga. The patent dispute has been sent back to a lower court because, as Bloomberg reports, “The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said that a judge incorrectly interpreted a key element in a patent related to the display of 3-D images on a screen without special glasses for the viewer.” The misinterpretation caused confusion among the jury.

Bloomberg continues:

Kyoto-based Nintendo appealed the lower court finding that its 3DS gaming system infringed Tokyo-based Tomita’s patent 7,417,664. While the appeals court said the patent element was interpreted correctly, it rejected Nintendo’s argument that the patent was invalid.

The appeals court sent the case back to New York for a new trial based on jury instructions that clarified the confusion over the patent element.

We’ll keep track of any future developments about this situation.

Nintendo Life recently caught up with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker director Shinya Hiratake and producer Koichi Hayashida. Among the topics discussed include potential interest in having Captain Toad, Toadette and the other Toads appear in more of their own games down the road.

Regarding this, Hayashida commented:

Here in the development team we’ve really come to love Captain Toad and the Toad Brigade from Super Mario Galaxy! We’re really happy to have been able to make a game where they are the main stars. I hope we’ll be seeing them pop up in all sorts of other places in future.

Hiratake also shared an interesting comment when asked if there are any other franchises or Nintendo settings he feels would suit the diorama puzzle mechanics:

In Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, it feels like we managed to recreate the fun of the games we used to play on the NES, but with a modern twist. I worked on this project in parallel to the NES REMIX series [titles available on the Wii U eShop and 3DS] where we pick up some of the best bits from games on NES. I was thinking it might be interesting to turn some of the games there into box worlds like this too. Those of you who enjoyed the Time Attack mode in Captain Toad: Treasure tracker might also like the Time Attack challenges in NES REMIX. I hope you try them out and enjoy!

And lastly, it sounds like we won’t be learning what Captain Toad has tucked away inside his backpack anytime soon. Hiratake said, “I think we’ll keep the contents of Captain Toad’s backpack the biggest secret of this game.”

An exploit was recently released for the 3DS that allows the system to run fan-made homebrew. All of the work is done through the game Cubic Ninja, which is now naturally in high demand.

Nintendo just launched a new 3DS update tonight. As a result, it’s only to be expected that many are wondering if homebrew is affected. The short answer is yes.

Today’s firmware is said to address one of the later stage exploits in Cubic Ninja. Two exploits still work apparently, though 3DS owners who are interested in homebrew may want to hold off on updating their system.

A couple of days ago, a Miiverse interview was conducted with Koichi Hayashida about Ultimate NES Remix. Hayashida explained how the 3DS compilation came to be, revealed that the team wasn’t sure it it could be released until roughly a month before it was completed, and more.

You’ll find all of Hayashida’s comments below.
