Today’s screenshot is a bit of trivia about a bit of trivia:

CVG has published a new interview with Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda, which covers a wide array of topics. Masuda was asked about the Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire demo, fan requests like the return of Pokemon Snap, and more.

Read on below for a few excerpts from the discussion.

Update: We may now have all Mega Evolutions (supposedly). This can also be found after the break.

Since this may be considered spoiler-territory, we’ll be extra safe. Head past the break for the new Mega Evolution!

Nintendo hasn’t published any new Pokemon Stadium games since 2007. By the sound of things, the series won’t be returning anytime soon.

Speaking with USgamer, Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda said that simply improving the graphics wouldn’t be “as impactful or impressive” since Pokemon games are in 3D these days. A new Pokemon Stadium would instead need “some sort of new invention” for its existence to be justified.

Below are Masuda’s full comments:

“It kind of goes back to the core philosophy of Pokémon as a brand: We really want to excite people and surprise them with new things they weren’t expecting. The original games, of course, were 2D and in black and white, and seeing them in 3D was a stark contrast… it was kind of a huge surprise for players. Nowadays, the Pokémon are already in 3D, and I’m not sure that better graphics would be quite as impactful or impressive. So in order to come back to the Stadium series, I think we’d need to have some sort of new invention to justify it.”

Nintendo updated the official Smash Bros. website today with a new look at the Amiibo usage in Smash Bros. Wii U. You’ll find a set of images in the gallery above, and a comprehensive overview below.

Essentially, amiibo are character figures that allow you to connect directly to your amiibo-compatible games. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U can read your amiibo and transform them into what we call “figure players” that will join the battle with – or against – you!

Figure Players Join the Battle

Adding figure players to the game is easy. When selecting fighters to play in a Smash battle mode, simply touch the NFC touchpoint with your amiibo and a figure player will appear in an empty fighter slot.

Nintendo has revealed a new element of Mario Kart 8’s first DLC pack. Players will be able to use the “Master Cycle” – a special vehicle created specifically for the DLC.

Mario Kart 8’s debut DLC pack launches next month. A specific release date has not yet been announced.
