During a financial results briefing, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa discussed plans to continue growing Switch as the console heads into its sixth year.

Furukawa stated out by highlighting the different ways that the system can be played before talking about the OLED model, which is doing well so far. Some are replacing their older devices while others are jumping in for the first time. Finally, Nintendo will be releasing big games in 2022 such as Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. Switch has also seen an all-time high for third-party games on a Nintendo platform as there are over 6,700 games from these publishers through September 2021.

Like many other pieces of technology, Nintendo has been impacted when it comes to Switch and the console’s production. Yesterday we heard that the company will be making 20 percent fewer units due to the ongoing chip shortage. Despite issues with production though, Nintendo won’t be favoring one type of Switch model over the other.

The Switch OLED is Nintendo’s hot new thing at the moment having just launched last month. However, president Shuntaro Furukawa stated today during a financial results briefing that resources won’t be limited to that version only as its other two variations – including the original and Switch Lite “cater to different needs”.

Furukawa stated:

shin megami tensei v review

System: Switch
Release date: November 12, 2021
Developer: Atlus
Publisher: Atlus

Shin Megami Tensei’s illustrious history has been unparalleled since its debut in the 90s. It has since grown and evolved, though the changes mostly come from the detailed environments that captivate and immerse you just as much as the narrative. These games constantly highlight the question of morality and philosophy, what’s right and wrong, and good versus evil. It’s hard to believe now that Shin Megami Tensei V is finally here and real, almost five whole years since its announcement prior to Switch seeing its launch. What’s not so hard to believe (or maybe it is, depending on how you look at it) is that the game has not only been worth the wait, but it’s also an exceptional new JRPG.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has now outsold Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo has confirmed.

Lifetime sales of Mario Kart Wii are at 37.38 million. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, on the other hand, has sold 38.74 million copies worldwide. That news comes directly from Nintendo’s latest financial results.

Thanks to Nintendo’s latest financial results, we have the company’s latest release schedule. It highlights upcoming projects from both a first and third-party perspective.

Overall there aren’t many surprises here. Bayonetta 3, which finally showed up in the last Nintendo Direct, now has its proper 2022 launch window listed. Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and Splatoon 2 are naturally listed for that same window. And although there isn’t any movement with Metroid Prime 4, it remains on the list with a “TBA” release window.
