This week’s issue of Famitsu contains a new Hey! Pikmin preview. The magazine covers the game’s story, amount of levels, and more.

To start off, Pikmin types and abilities are as follows:

– Red: Strong against fire and can move on fiery places
– Yellow: Strong against electricity and doesn’t get paralyzed; can also fly high when thrown
– Blue: Strong against water and useful in underwater explorations
– Winged: Can fly with its feathers; multiple winged Pikmin can allow Olimar to fly
– Rock: Can destroy hard objects

Nintendo had a big blowout of ARMS this week with its own dedicated Nintendo Direct. It really touched on almost everything we’ve wanted to know about the game. New characters were revealed, new modes were shown, and we even found out about ARMS Global Testpunch – an opportunity to try things out before launch.

It was recently made known that, in Japan, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 would be out this fall. Bandai Namco has since confirmed the same window for North America as well.

The publisher just tweeted:


We don’t have any news for Europe just yet. However, the game will almost certainly be dropping this fall in PAL regions as well.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Another piece of significant information has been reported stemming from the April 2017 NPD report. According to Mat Piscatella, an analyst for the company, Mario Kart is the all-time best-selling racing franchise in the U.S.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the best-selling game in the U.S. last month despite being on the market for just two days. In that short period, over 460,000 physical units sold. With digital sales included, the total exceeds 550,000 units.

Towards the end of next week, Nintendo will be kicking off ARMS Global Testpunch. The demo will let Switch owners try out the game on certain days and times with online matches.

Although ARMS Global Testpunch won’t feature the entire roster, you’ll have several characters to choose from. Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Master Mummy, Ninjara, Mechanica, Min Min, and Helix will be playable. The three new characters announced this week – Kid Cobra, Byte & Barq, and Twintelle – have been left out.

Owlboy coming to Switch

In the new Nyannyan Neko Mario Time episode just posted by Nintendo, several new indie titles for Switch were announced. One of these we felt deserves special mention. Based on the video, we can now say that Owlboy is coming to Switch.

After it was in development for nearly a decade, Owlboy made it to Steam towards the end of last year and has been highly well-regarded. There’s no release date at this time, but at least we know that it’s on the way.

The final bit of news stemming from this month’s NPD report concerns platform-specific sales. Over on GamesBeat, the site has published a listing of the top sellers in the US on Switch and 3DS for the month of April. Additionally, we have the lineup of the best-selling games of 2017 so far. April 2017 was an extremely good month for Nintendo sales. In the U.S., the company not only owned the top spot in gaming hardware sales, but the second position as well.

As we know, Switch was the overall top seller. Right behind it though is the NES Classic Edition.

Nintendo is no longer producing the NES Classic Edition. The platform has been phased out worldwide, and April was the final month for shipments.
