Nintendo has announced a brand new amiibo tying in with the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Fans will be able to pick up a figure featuring Zelda herself and a Loftwing.

Naturally, the amiibo has functionality with Skyward Sword HD. When used on the surface, you can return to the sky from wherever you like. Use it again in the sky to return to where you were previously. It even works in dungeons or buildings in the sky.

Here’s a video showing off the amiibo feature:

Tying in with the launch of Famicom Detective Club a few days ago, My Nintendo has added in a new reward. Members can pick up a wallpaper based on the visual novels.

The Famicom Detective Club wallpaper will set you back 50 Platinum Points. It’s currently up on My Nintendo here.

It’s been three years since the launch of Kirby Star Allies, but a new art book recently arrived in Japan. It included an interview with Shinya Kumazaki, the game’s director.

Kumazaki also left a message at the end of the book. After discussing some of the difficulties HAL Laboratory went through while making Star Allies, he also spoke vaguely about the series’ future. Kumazaki mentioned moving on to the “next phase” of Kirby and “planning for the next stage of our future.”

Kumazaki’s message, translated by Nintendo Everything, is as follows:

This week’s episode of Nintendo Minute has gone live. In today’s video, Kit and Krysta see how quickly they can name a Switch game using only descriptive words. Check out the full episode below.

The Pokemon Company has started a new program called “Project Piplup.” This project is cryptic in nature but seems to have to do with promotional activities featuring the Pokemon Piplup.

To mark the start of this campaign, the official Pokemon YouTube channel has uploaded a Japanese promo video for this project. In the short description for this video, it mentions (in Japanese) that the project is meant to “spread the charm of Piplup to the world.”

How exactly the Pokemon Company will do that is unknown at this time. But there is an official website, Twitter page, and Instagram to follow for Project Piplup and apparently more videos will be shown soon on the Pokemon YouTube channel.

It looks like The Pokemon Company is going big for its musical features to celebrate its 25th anniversary. They have released a song called Electric by Katy Perry that is apparently a part of an album they are creating called Pokemon 25: The Album. This song also comes with a music video that features Katy Perry and Pikachu exploring an island and signing in a lighthouse.

Check out the full song below in the official music video, and it can be streamed on all music platforms now.

Two more rewards are now available on My Nintendo in North America. In addition to a Platinum Point and Gold Point Coins Pin Set, the site has added the New Pokemon Snap Clear Zipper Case Set.

Below are the descriptions for both plus photos:

When Nintendo held its financial call last week, one investor asked about the company’s rising costs when it comes to research and development. The Big N is expecting these expenses to be at nearly 100 billion yen for the fiscal year.

President Shuntaro Furukawa offered up some insight. He pointed to a few factors, such as development costs (which are higher compared to past platforms) to produce a steady stream of games for Switch, development of next generation hardware, plans to grow its integrated hardware-software entertainment business, and more.

Furukawa stated:

The last SteamWorld game, SteamWorld Quest, launched just over two years ago. Image & Form has been keeping quiet about the series since, but that doesn’t mean there’s more to come – quite far from it actually.

Over on Twitter, Image & Form confirmed that “several new SteamWorld games are in the making”. The company wrote:
