Nintendo World will be temporarily closed on January 19. Once it reopens on February 19, fans will find that the location features an entirely new look and feel. Nintendo World, with the updated name “Nintendo NY”, will feature “an updated interior design, new Wii U and Nintendo 3DS demo units, a 15-foot gaming screen and more fun elements and surprises.” That’s on top of a large bronze coin at the store entrance containing the new tagline: “here everyone comes to play.”

During the weekend of February 19, Nintendo NY will host a series of reopening activities. Fans can stop by for giveaways (while supplies last), appearances by costumed characters like Mario and Luigi, and exclusive souvenirs that can only be purchased that weekend, including a limited-edition T-shirt featuring Mario or Link. Wii U and 3DS games will be on hand to sample as well.

Nintendo of America’s Scott Moffitt said of today’s news:

“Nintendo is constantly evolving its experiences for fans. The new Nintendo NY store is a must-see location for anyone that has a memory of Nintendo, or who wants to see what Nintendo has in store for the future.”
