SEGA has been putting out a bunch of “3D” versions of its older games on the Japanese 3DS eShop. These titles should also be coming overseas based on ratings found through different rating board databases.

Last week, SEGA announced 3D Ecco the Dolphin. Galaxy Force II should be coming a few weeks after.

SEGA additionally appears to be planning 3D Shinobi III. While it hasn’t been revealed yet, we came across a rating for the game in the PEGI database. Expect an announcement in the near future.

Sonic the Hedeghog is celebrating a birthday today. The Blue Blur made his debut on the SEGA Genesis 22 years ago. He’s had ups and downs since then, but at the end of the day, Sonic is one of the most recognized characters in video games. Happy birthday!

EA won’t be releasing Madden NFL 25 on Wii U. What’s a Nintendo fan to do if they’re looking for a football experience? Play last year’s release, Madden NFL 13.

EA Sports producer Thomas Singleton acknowledged that “Nintendo fans will probably miss out a little bit”, but said those seeking a Madden game can look towards Madden NFL 13, “a great product and you can continue playing that product because it’s not going anywhere”.

“I think the Nintendo fans will probably miss out a little bit, but the Wii U version that we created last year was a great product and you can continue playing that product because it’s not going anywhere – it’s still there. Whether or not we’re shipping a new version? We’re not.”

According to Singleton, when it comes to Madden NFL 13 on Wii U, “We don’t have any plans on turning off the off switch.”

During E3 2013, EA was continually asked about its stance towards Wii U. The publisher originally committed to the console at E3 2011, where it announced an “unprecedented partnership” with Nintendo.

That ended rather quickly. EA put out a couple of so-so sports games, the outdated Mass Effect 3, and the admittedly high-quality Need for Speed: Most Wanted U before calling it a day.

But EA Labels president Frank Gibeau has once again given assurance that it hasn’t abandoned Wii U. Gibeau told IGN that EA is “not writing it off” and is “not not developing for Wii U.” EA will be watching the console as it focuses on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

“it’s been 60 days since we launched Need for Speed Most Wanted on the Wii U. We’ve launched four games. We’re proud of them. They’re in the marketplace and they’re selling. The guys inside the studio are looking at the Wii U tech and they’re looking at the platform. They understand it. As it develops, if there’s an opportunity to publish more games on the Wii U, we’ll do that. We’re not writing it off. We’re not not developing for the Wii U. We’re just watching it, and we’re really focused right now on PS4 and Xbox One, to really nail that transition.”
