We’ve confirmed with Sidebar Games that Golf Story will be playable at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. The big expo kicks off on Thursday for business partners / the press, though it will be open to the public this weekend.

Sidebar Games has been very busy as of late, understandably so. The developer has been partially preoccupied with preparing Golf Story’s TGS demo as well as “some other things”. However, we were told that “there isn’t much left to do now”.

As far as a release date goes, Sidebar Games is keeping quiet on that front. The last official window we have is September. We asked about a final date, but Sidebar Games wasn’t ready to share that information with us just yet.

Another 3DS update is now available. Nintendo has just issued the latest firmware, version 11.6.0-39.

Those expecting new functionality will be left disappointed. Nintendo says of the update: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”.

These patch notes have actually been the exact same for the past two years. The last notable update was in March 2015 when Nintendo added a Home Menu Layout setting so that users could save and load up to eight layouts with different theme and software icon arrangements.

It took slightly longer than expected, but the new Cave Story+ update has gone live in North America.

After applying the patch, you’ll see the addition of co-op. Two players can play through the game together locally.

Nicalis confirmed that the update has been pushed out on Twitter:

State of Mind will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show, Daedalic Entertainment has announced. Those who stop by the expo will be able to experience the game running on Switch.

State of Mind is a 3D adventure with two areas that can be explored: the dystopian Berlin of 2048, and the utopian sprawl of the virtual world of CITY 5. The game has a number of playable characters and narrative layers, an immersive story, and multiple choice dialogue that influences the world.

Project Octopath Traveler reemerged during last week’s Nintendo Direct following its initial announcement in January. Amazingly, a demo of the game even hit the eShop.

Nintendo UK highlighted the demo’s availability in a news post on its official website today. Towards the end, Nintendo says that Project Octopath Traveler is launching in Spring 2018.

Could this be an error? Absolutely. We’ll just have to wait and see. We’ve only heard on the record that Project Octopath Traveler is planned for 2018, but if Nintendo UK is correct, it’ll be releasing closer to the start of 2018 rather than towards the end of the year.
