Natsume shared fresh details today regarding the new crop system included in Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley.

All crops feature numerous variants that players will need to discover. The Lost Valley takes things further than the regular and “giant” versions of crops found in games like Harvest Moon: A New Beginning. Mutations, such as purple flowers growing from pink seeds, pearl onions growing from a normal onion seeds, and mysterious pumpkin mutations that may grow when planted in swampy ground are all featured in the game.

Crops in Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley can be planted anywhere – higher or lower elevations, closer to or further away from water, on dry land or swampy ground. By placing crops in different areas, players will discover new variations. Note that not every plant in these locations may result in a mutated plant.

Over 100 crops will be included in Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley. Cabbage alone has ten variations, such as the Giant Cabbage and Red Cabbage.
