Pokemon Shield

One of the hot topics surrounding Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield this week is how not all Pokemon will be supported in the games. If you have a creature from another Pokemon title not in the Galar Pokedex, you won’t be able to transfer it over.

Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori have attempted to address the situation a few times over the past few days. In an interview with Famitsu, they commented on it further, as well as Pokemon Home and more. Find a summary of what was shared during the discussion below, courtesy of Siliconera.

Although we tried out Pokemon Sword/Shield at E3 2019 this week, we were a bit limited as to how much we were able to record. Still, we have a few minutes of off-screen footage showing off the battle against Nessa below.

Hello my beautiful Banjos and Kazooies! This week is post E3, and we have so much to talk about, it’s not even fair to our monthly data cap! Oni talks first-hand experiences on the Show Floor and discusses the entirety of the Nintendo E3 Direct and then some with Galen!

Part way through the episode, Galen suddenly had a swig of idiot juice and started being wrong about everything, but Oni keeps him on track as he recalls Eiji Aonuma’s old plans for new gameplay in Breath of the Wild. The gang may have figured out how the sequel is gonna go! Or at least they’d like to think they have… Check below the break for the full details!

To celebrate E3, we’re doing double content all month long! Mostly. We hope you’re enjoying! The best way to support our show is to recommend the podcast to others, and rate us 5 stars on iTunes! We really appreciate all the support you’ve given us throughout the show.

Thank you so much for listening!

World Hobby Fair Summer ’19 is taking place in Japan later this month. The Pokemon Company is confirmed to be having a presence, which includes promotions for Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.

It’s also been announced that the “latest information” for Pokemon Sword/Shield will be featured. Unfortunately, we’re not quite sure if the information will be entirely new, but regardless, we should be hearing more later this month.

World Hobby Fair Summer ’19 runs on June 29 and June 30 in Chiba, Japan.

Amazon UK has opened pre-orders for the Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield Dual Pack. If interested, you can reserve a copy here. Despite what the listing says, we were able to place an order from a US address.

The double pack naturally includes both versions in a single package. Additionally, a steelbook is included, which has not been announced for North America at this time.

Meanwhile, if you don’t care about the steelbook, you can order the Pokemon Sword/Shield Double Pack from Amazon US here.

The Pokemon Company has shared an official interview with Game Freak’s Junichi Masdua and Shigeru Ohmori. The two developers, director and producer of Pokemon Sword/Shield respectively, had lots to say about the Switch games and more. They spoke about taking inspiration from the UK for the Galar region, what it’s like creating new Pokemon, new features being implemented, the music, and more.

Here’s the full interview:

Pokemon Sword/Shield

As we’ve heard throughout the week, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield won’t feature all Pokemon. That means you won’t be able to transfer every creature that the series has seen.

If you were hoping that the games would be updated to support missing Pokemon in the future, you might be out of luck – at least for now. Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori told Famitsu that there is currently no decision to bring the existing Pokemon that can’t be used back into the game using patches, but those that don’t will still have an active role in Pokemon HOME.

USgamer has published some new comments from Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield director Shigeru Ohmori. During the interview, Ohmori discussed wanting to take advantage of Switch and the power it affords, post-game, wanting to increase the scale of Pokemon, and the series’ future.

You can find a roundup of these quotes below. For the full interview, head on over to USgamer.

Game Freak broke some news about Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield yesterday that is not going over well with fans. The Pokedex is limited, meaning not all Pokemon can be transferred to the game. Only monsters appearing in the Galar region will be available.

Game Freak producer Junichi Masuda spoke about the decision further in an interview with USgamer. On that front, he said:

Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves will not be in Pokemon Sword/Shield, developer Game Freak has confirmed. That news was confirmed at Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3 2019 yesterday.

Both features were introduced in the 3DS games. Mega Evolutions gave a new look to some certain Pokemon with boosted stats while Z-Moves allowed certain Pokemon to perform a powerful special move.
