In a blog post on Gamasutra, David D’Angelo from Yacht Club Games reveals that Shovel Knight has sold 1.2 million copies. 200,000 of those units come from retail.

D’Angelo has also provided a break down of amiibo sales thus far:

We hope to provide a very in-depth article about how the Shovel Knight amiibo was made soon. So stay tuned for that! In the meantime, here’s a bit about its sales so far. Believe it or not, we actually ordered over 200,000 units to be manufactured and shipped all over the world. We’ve currently sold through 180,000 of those units since the amiibo figure launched January 8th. 60,000 of those going to Europe and the rest going to North America. The sales for the amiibo figure are still strong, enough so that our North American distribution branch decided to order 30,000 more units!

Capcom has issued a new Monster Hunter Generations trailer to highlight the gameplay mechanics known as Styles and Hunter Arts. Both of these “allow for an even more visually striking and personalized playstyle than ever before,” the company says.

Here’s a rundown of Styles from Capcom:

Each hunting Style opens up different ways to tactically take on foes. Each Style also allows access to different Hunter Arts, indispensable combat skills and power-ups that can be unleashed with the tap of a button when charged, making it easy to execute these special moves.

  • Aerial Style – Adds a new jumping ability which allows players to attack from above, opening up more opportunities to mount a monster and potentially knock it down.
  • Guild Style – Classic gameplay for all 14 weapons and will feel familiar to Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate players.
  • Adept Style – Rewards players for learning enemy behaviors and performing a counterattack, giving players more tactical dodging and blocking options based on the current weapon type in use.
  • Striker Style – A versatile powerhouse that revolves around building up and unleashing incredibly advantageous Hunter Arts.

View the new Monster Hunter Generations trailer below. The game will make its first public playable debut in the west at PAX East next weekend.

The highly-anticipated sequel to the 3DS’s surprise hit from Silicon Studio – which was originally supposed to be a brand new Final Fantasy game before becoming Bravely Default due to its different sense of direction – is here. It reunites us with our favorite characters from the first game while introducing a few new ones to bring us a brand new story, and manages to keep the world as fresh and vibrant as ever. Get ready to embark on an incredible new journey traversing the familiar and unfamiliar in Bravely Second’s vast new world as you save Agnés, who now serves as Pope in a seemingly utopian world – that is, until a mysterious new Empire kidnaps her on the day a peace treaty was to be signed.

Nintendo updated the Japanese Kirby: Planet Robobot site today with some new information. We have details about a copy ability and Robobot Armor modes.

First, Nintendo has shown the Esper (update: should be ESP in the English version) copy ability. With psychic powers, Kirby can make himself disappear, or attack with electric energy. There will be over 25 copy abilities in the game, including new and old ones.

Here’s some information about new Robobot Armor modes (over 10 in total):

– Spark Mode: Launch a single piercing attack with shockwaves
– Jet Mode: Transform into a jet fighter, fly in the sky and instantly lock-on to enemies
– Cutter Mode: Slice through enemies with blades that look like giant sawteeth
– Bomb Mode: Attack continuously by releasing the Walker Nitros
– Wheel Mode: Thrust forward like a racer with the Full Turbo Accel

And here’s a look at today’s new content:

Kirby: Planet Robobot also features 200 kinds of stickers that can be placed on the robot for customization. You can find these scattered about the various levels.
