Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

The latest Japanese hardware sales from Famitsu are as follows:

Things have never been quite easy for the EarthBound series. Mother 3 in particular went through a very troubled development cycle having been in the works for multiple Nintendo consoles. It was also planned as a 3D title at one point as EarthBound 64 for the N64 before being scrapped. Mother 3 did ultimately release as a 2D game on the Game Boy Advance, but it has never received English localization.

A couple of years ago, we did receive a new look at EarthBound 64 thanks to a video taken at SpaceWorld 1996.
Zen64 has now managed to obtain the Nintendo Company Report 1998 via an auction, which contains more footage from the game. This ties in with SpaceWorld 1997.

Here’s the video in full:

Stemming from today’s Nintendo leaks and the overall “gigaleak”, an internal company document has been spotted that reveals plans for early games on Wii – and projects that were cancelled.

To say the least, there are some very interesting titles listed. One of the highlights is a Metroid game from Intelligent Systems, which would have launched after Metroid Prime. It also appears that a sequel to Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix was once being considered.

Here’s the full roundup of items included in the document (which also includes tidbits on released games), courtesy of MondoMega:

Three new SNES games are joining the Nintendo Switch Online library next week, Nintendo has announced. Claymates, Jelly Boy, and Bombuzal are all appearing on the service.

Typically we see at least one new NES addition. However, that won’t be happening this time around.

Here’s an overview of the latest SNES games plus a trailer:

Last year, a ton of Nintendo leaks occurred (otherwise known as the “gigaleak”) after data was stolen from the company’s servers. It brought us looks at beta Pokemon designs, early sprites for a few classics, some interesting proposals for the GameCube, and much more.

Things have been quiet over the past few months, but we’re now hearing that even more leaks have sprung up. Twitter user forestillusion has been documenting the news today and says it “contains source code to a Wii Service program (an upgraded version of GameCube Service Disc), and some documentation for various systems including the Nintendo Switch.” There’s also a new prototype build for Pokemon: Lets Go, Eevee, details on the cancelled iQue GameCube, early Wii Remote prototypes, and more.

Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed

System: Switch
Release date: July 20, 2021
Developer: Acquire
Publisher: Marvelous (XSEED)

Akiba’s Trip is one of those odd niche titles that has earned success thanks to its unique beat ’em up, strip ’em down gameplay. While it has sold over half a million copies since its debut many years ago, the game’s formula has rarely been replicated. After it received a manga and even an anime alongside it, it’s a wonder why it took so long to get a true sequel (not counting Akiba’s Beat). Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed isn’t the follow-up to what some would consider a cult classic, but it is a remaster of the original PSP title that was never localized outside of Japan, marking the debut of the game in the west ten years later. It’s both a blast from the past and simultaneously dated as its age undoubtedly shows and offers very little in terms of additions and changes.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel

Konami has announced Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, a digital card game that lets you play Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG/TCG. The game is currently in development for Switch and other platforms.

Senior producer Kenichi Kataoka shared the following during the Yu-Gi-Oh! Digital Next event today:

Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Saikyou Battle Royale!!

Konami is bringing Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Saikyou Battle Royale!! to the west, the company revealed during the Yu-Gi-Oh! Digital Next event today.

In Japan, the game is planned for release on August 12. In North America and Europe, it’s now confirmed for a fall release.

Here’s a comment from producer Akitsu Terashima:

At the start of next year, credit cards will no longer be supported on the 3DS and Wii U eShops – at least in Japan. Nintendo just announced that this aspect of the service will be discontinued on January 18, 2022. Other prepaid IC cards will be impacted as well.

All other aspects of the 3DS and Wii U eShops will remain functional. System owners can still buy games, download already-purchased titles, and more. Payment can be done through other means like Nintendo’s official eShop cards and by linking a Nintendo Network ID to a Nintendo Account on Switch and having a shared balance across devices. Nintendo’s website also supports credit cards.

Nintendo has not yet said if there will be any changes to credit cards in other territories.
