Kirby: Canvas Curse (Kirby: Power Paintbrush in Europe) has been rated in Australia. You know what that means – a Wii U Virtual Console release should be happening in the future. We don’t have a date of course, but hopefully the DS game will be heading to the eShop soon.

Shea Sparling is a 10-year-old boy with polyarteritis nodosa, a life-threatening condition. Thanks to the charitable organization Dream Factory, Shea’s wish was recently realized.

Shea took a trip to Nintendo of America’s headquarters, and also met company president Reggie Fils-Aime. The two even played a round of Mario Kart together.

Shea’s mother spoke very positively about the experience, saying:

“We had so much fun. They had signs welcoming us and we went on a tour of the building. We met with Reggie and the kids even played a game of Mario Kart with him. He was so gracious and relaxed and spent time chatting with Shea, answering his questions.”

Another update is coming soon to Elliot Quest. Version 1.2.6 could be out next week, so long as Nintendo approves it.

This new Elliot Quest update will address more bugs. Additionally, it will unlock some Miiverse stamps based on save data.

PlayEveryWare posted the following news on Miiverse:

In a separate post, the company added the following:

I also want to thank all of Miiverse community for being patient and understanding, while sharing with us the issues that are surely frustrating you.

What happened was that we made a whole bunch of performance optimizations alongside our Miiverse Journal feature update. Unfortunately one of the optimizations had some unintended, but serious consequences. We also wanted to address the feedback we were getting about players wanting to have Stamps unlocked based on their save data. Along with fixing bugs that were my fault, I really want to be sure we are adding in features that you the community find important!

We really hope this will be the final update for Elliot Quest on Wii U, but of course we will continue to support the game by watching Miiverse and elsewhere to see if players find any further issues or have any additional feature requests for the game!

Dragon Quest VIII sold 585,000 copies in its first week in Japan, according to Media Create. The sales tracker has since provided additional information about the game’s performance.

Dragon Quest VIII ended up selling through 72.27 of its initial stock. For titles released on the 3DS during 2015, it places second next to Yo-kai Watch Busters, which sold 694,000 copies in its opening week. However, when compared to the Dragon Quest VII remake on 3DS (first week sales of 828,000 units, 83.29 percent sell-through, debuted on February 2013), both sales numbers and sell-through have fallen.

On the other hand, big name titles have been a driving force in 3DS hardware sales. Of special note was the sales of the New 3DS XL. The Metallic Red color debuted in Japan, and sold 13,000 units sold having been released on the same day as those games. New 3DS hardware rose to 38,000 units sold, an increase of 192.87 percent compared to last week.

Super Mario Maker won’t be launching until next week, but someone as already uploaded a video showing all of the different costumes in the game. If you’d like to see it, head past the break.

The latest issue of Famitsu contains a ton of details about Monster Hunter Stories. We shared information translated from the magazine earlier this week based on the article, but now we have details from the developer interview as well.

Development on Monster Hunter Stories began two years ago. However, it’s a project that’s been five to six years in the making, and it’s something that came about due to some fans wanting an RPG.

Monster Hunter has focused on strengthening the player character, but it’s about monsters. In this game, as there are plenty of people who like monsters, it is more of a sport to use them. The team took an approach to allow those who love the Monster Hunter world itself to experience it.

The fifth Japanese Splatfest in Splatoon is happening next weekend, Nintendo has announced.

This new competition has boke and tsukkomi sides facing off. In Japanese comedy, “boke” is kind of like the “funny man” while “tsukkomi” is comparable to the “straight man”.

Japan’s new Splatfest will begin on Saturday at 12 PM. Similar to previous events, it will run for a full day.
