At Monster Hunter Festa this year, Capcom distributed the Monster Hunter Generations Concept Art Book. This has some interesting information about concepts for a pair of unused weapons. At one point, Capcom was considering the Hunting Hound and Wyvern Boomerang.

Here are some of the details about the two weapons as translated by Siliconera:

Hunting Hound

– Gunner class
– Dog is the primary weapon
– Dog could have armor made for it
– These would give it unique attacks and behavior
– Could find Monsters based on scent, or climbing to high places
– Issue button commands to coordinate attacks
– Ex: target body parts, like the tail, or focus on breaking horns, etc.
– Issuing a “follow the tail!” order would even have the pooch follow the Wyvern into the air
– Could ride it to move about the map faster, and it could be fed to recover health or stamina

Wyvern Boomerang

– Combos were even designed for this weapon
– Overhead attack not unlike the Great Sword
– Diversity is in its throwing attacks and how the player interacts with it in midair
– Throw it forward with “X”
– Throw it upward with “X+A”
– Round-house throw with “A”
– Before catching the boomerang after a throw, you’d be able to punch it back out into the air towards a Monster
– It could even break into two for more advanced combos

A new video from GameSpot gives another look at the Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set in Disney Infinity 3.0. Take a look at some footage below.

Nintendo uploaded Japanese patch notes for Super Mario Maker’s next update, though it’s pretty much a recap of what was already revealed during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct. Version 1.40 will add new items including Skewer columns and keys, Super Expert Mode in 100-Mario Challenge upon clearing Expert mode, and ranking categories for world records and the number of first clears on courses on the Super Mario Maker Bookmark site. Nintendo is also making adjustments for a more pleasant gaming experience.

Super Mario Maker version 1.40 will be out next Wednesday. The download will require 361MB of free space.

One announcement that went under the radar during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct is Futuridium EP Deluxe for Nintendo platforms. Yesterday, MixedBag revealed that Futuridium EP Deluxe is coming to both Wii U and New 3DS. This shoot’em up was originally released in 2014.

Here’s an overview of Futuridium EP Deluxe:

Futuridium EP Deluxe is a psychedelic retro inspired shoot’em up with a modern twist, that blends together frantic action, puzzle elements, a vibrant low poly aesthetic and an heart pumping electronic soundtrack. As a lone starship pilot lost in a dimensional loop just before a big space battle, with a limited and constantly depleting energy tank, your only hope is to fly as fast as possible over enormous space dreadnoughts, destroying their defenses and the cyan power cubes to get some energy back.

Try to escape the infinite loop of Futuridium: you can count only on your reflexes, your dual lasers, the nimbleness of your starship and… the ability to turn 180° on the spot! Can you beat all the 50 levels, the 5 bosses, unlock all the extra game modes and collect the 150 medals?

Good luck! You’ll need it…

Futuridium EP Deluxe will be out “soon” on Nintendo’s systems. Both versions run at 60 frames per second, and the New 3DS version will offer 3D support.

A few screenshots from Futuridium EP Deluxe are in the gallery below.
