New Hyrule Warriors DLC is coming to Japan next week. On February 26, players will be able to purchase the Ganon Pack.

The DLC features a Boss Challenge mode, where you defeat the game’s big bosses for high scores. It’s possible to obtain costumes for Lana, Link, and Zelda as rewards.

Additionally, there’s a Ganon Play Mode. Players take on the role of Ganon and earn high scores by destroying the battlefield. There are costumes for Ganondorf and Cia as rewards.

Pricing for the DLC is set at 500 yen. It’s included free for those who bought the “all-in-one” pack.

We have a small update on New 3DS sales from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. Thanks to information provided during Nintendo’s latest financial results briefing, limited edition hardware experienced high pre-orders in North America and Europe. Many stores closed reservations prior to launch, and Iwata says that they pretty much sold out upon release.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata shared more on amiibo sales during the company’s latest financial results briefing.

According to Iwata, 63 percent of amiibo sales are from the U.S. and Canada. Europe is next with 23 percent, followed by Japan with 11 percent, and Australia with 3 percent.

Europe and Japan have sold out 70-79 percent of amiibo stock. In Australia, this figure is over 90 percent.

Nintendo will be doing something a bit different with amiibo later this year. During its latest financial results briefing, the company revealed plans to incorporate NES and SNES titles with the figures.

amiibo owners will be able to scan amiibo, which will then allow them to experience “famous scenes” of different NES and SNES games on Wii U. There are play time limits, however – similar to what’s offered in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Nintendo compares this to being able to switch out carts on a real console rapid fire.

Note that scene selections will be rotated, and you won’t be able to play an entire game for free. The functionality will be introduced in the first half of this year.

This month’s issue of Nintendo Dream has an interview with the developers behind Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. The Japanese magazine asked plenty of questions, which brought about several interesting answers.

Nintendo Dream starts off by noting how Rainbow Curse is the first Kirby title for Wii U. Given that, the publication was interested to know why the game follows the system of Canvas Curse and isn’t a traditional entry.

That elicited the following response:

When we saw the Wii U GamePad for the first time, we thought it could be interesting to use the different roles of the GamePad and TV in multiplayer. From there on, we came up with an idea of using the Wii Remote to control Waddle Dee and the GamePad to draw footholds. And the system of Kirby Canvas Curse fit that, so we used it. The result, after applying everyone’s voice, was a very lively game.

If you ask someone what the most striking and memorable thing about The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is, they’d probably answer with the whole three-day cycle gimmick, Link’s many transformations or the creepy moon. But if you held a gun to their head and whispered “it’s Tingle” into their ear, they’d undoubtedly say it was this charming fellow. The life and legacy of Tingle isn’t extensively documented and leaves many unexplored questions. Is he human? Is he a fairy? Is he an offensive gay stereotype? But despite his mysterious nature, Tingle is a crucial character to the development of the Legend of Zelda series. In fact, there are no less than four different games out there with Tingle’s name in the title, which makes him just as important to the franchise as Link, whose name usually only appears as part of a lame pun. Just as the tale of the Hero of Time and the Triforce is constantly being retold, so too is the story of this unsung legend.

The latest issue of Famitsu has another update on Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition. Thanks to the magazine, we have several new details about the game.

Players will be able to “power up” and “change form” of Mario and friends in Toad houses, which are located on the world map. This requires a specific item obtained from a defeated enemy or from a question block. Not only does a form change alter the visuals of the character, but abilities are raised as well. Synthesizing two characters is also possible. One of the characters turns into experience points, while the other is lost in the process.
