Masahiro Sakurai

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai is again publishing a new column in this week’s issue of Famitsu. It’s actually a bit of a special one, as there’s a conversation with manga artist Saho Yamamoto. It’s also Sakurai’s 600th column in the Japanese magazine.

The full magazine isn’t available just yet, but as usual, some of the tidbits have leaked online. A major highlight is that Sakurai states that he had plans to present a new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighter to a publisher at some point, but it’s being delayed due to the coronavirus.

Nintendo Switch

If you try to access pretty much any online service on your Nintendo Switch right, such as accessing the eShop, you’ll notice that, well, you can’t. Nintendo just sent out a notice that all network services on the Switch are currently unavailable. This has been going on since 17:56 JST, so for a bit over an hour. Nintendo are looking into the problem.

There are currently two Gear.Club games on Nintendo Switch – Gear.Club Unlimited and Gear.Club Unlimited 2. However, it seems like a third one might be on its way. French retailer Cultura has a listing for “Gear.Club – Tracks Edition”. The game is listed for a release on June 11, 2020, with a price of 49,99 €. However, all the media on the page and the game’s description are just for the first Gear.Club Unlimited. This might imply that this supposed game is a sort of “complete edition” with all DLC included – or it might just be a mistake on the retailer’s part. As such, take this listing with a grain of salt at the moment. Hopefully we’ll hear something official soon.

Back in 2018, video game adaptations of popular game shows Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune were released on Nintendo Switch in the US. The games are available both individually and as a retail double-pack called “America’s Greatest Game Shows: Wheel of Fortune & Jeopardy!”. So far, neither game has been available outside the US, but that could now change. PEGI, the age rating agency for many European countries, has now rated both Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, suggesting that a release of both games in Europe soon is fairly likely.
