Before Conker’s Bad Fur Day became the game we know of today, it was a radically different project. The team originally set out on creating something like an interactive cartoon with characters that would have very expressive faces.

Rare showed more of Twelve Tales: Conker 64 in a new video today, including previously-unseen footage. Check it out below.

It shouldn’t be too long now before we get a first look at Nintendo and DeNA’s first mobile game. According to Japanese gaming analyst Dr. Serkan Toto, we’ll be seeing it “soon”. Toto also said that we should “expect the unexpected”.

Just like in Japan, Splatoon’s sixth North American Splatfest will be held next weekend. Players only need to answer this simple question: how would you rather travel, by car or by plane?

The Splatfest will begin on October 9 at 9 PM on the West Coast and October 10 at 12 AM on the East Coast. As usual, the event is held for a full day.

North American New 3DS owners can now order a charging cradle from Nintendo’s online store. It costs $9.99, though you’ll probably need to throw in a few extra dollars for shipping. Orders for the cradle can be placed here.

As Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer launches today in Europe, Nintendo UK have a new commercial ready for the game that also promotes amiibo. We have it below.

Playtonic posted a new Yooka-Laylee update on its website today. You can find it in its entirety here.

One of the notable excerpts from the update is a look at a new NPC, pictured above. Playtonic describes here as follows:

“One new character you may have spied in a recent issue of Edge is the slender lass below. Crayoned by our own Kev Bayliss, this yet-to-be-named NPC will require Yooka and Laylee’s assistance on the very first world of the game. Obviously she’s forgot to turn the iron off or something and they’ll need to go and get the spare keys off her landlord.”

Playtonic also unveiled a new piece of art at EGX last week, which was made by Dean Wilson. We’ve attached it below.

Capcom prepared an official set of screenshots from Monster Hunter X today. The images include the Nyanter Mode which we previously covered as well as Tamamitsune, one of the four main monsters. You can find all of the images below, along with a single shot of Keiryuu (mountain stream area).

Tamamitsune is an agile creature who can use the “Water Breath” attack, which gives players a status ailment. This covers the hunter’s body in foam, causing them to slip and slide on the ground.

We don’t post too much about Japanese demos these days, but the one for Project X Zone 2 may have some relevance overseas. After all, we did receive a couple of demos for the original game here in the west.

Bandai Namco is releasing a Project X Zone 2 demo on the Japanese eShop on October 9. It features the game’s opening stages, and for each round cleared, players will receive an “Early Play Benefit Item” for use in the retail version. We’ll probably be seeing the demo in North America and Europe closer to launch.
