Final Fantasy XV director says nothing has been decided with Switch, looking into the system

Back at Gamescom, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata seemed to hint at something relating to the game coming to Switch. Tabata has since clarified what’s actually going on at the moment.
Right now, a definitive decision has not been made. Square Enix has been experimenting with Switch to see what sort of specs the system can provide and what it’s capable. The Luminous Engine was tested, but it seems that Square Enix can’t “bring out the most of the engine” on Switch.

Grant Kirkhope would “love” to work on a Zelda game
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 22 Comments
Grant Kirkhope just wrapped up his work on Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle as the game’s composer. But Mario isn’t the only Nintendo franchise Kirkhope is interested in contributing to.
Speaking with GamesMaster this month, Kirkhope spoke about really wanting “to get on to Zelda”. Part of this is due to Zelda: A Link to the Past being his favorite game of all time, and having a great deal of respect for the soundtrack.

Game Freak doesn’t think Pokemon will ever appear on another platform outside of Nintendo
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 151 Comments
Game Freak’s ties to Nintendo go back even before the studio started working on Pokemon games. The company’s first project was Quinty for the NES, followed by Yoshi a couple of years later. Pokemon has been Game Freak’s bread and butter for many years, though they’ve started to branch out with titles like Tembo the Badass Elephant (a game not on Nintendo platforms) and Giga Wrecker (currently just announced for PC). Still, Pokemon is very unlikely to leave the Nintendo family by appearing on competing platforms.
Game Informer spoke with Game Freak co-founder Junichi Masuda as part of a big feature in its latest issue. One topic brought up is who exactly owns Pokemon. It’s a bit tricky, but ultimately Masuda highlighted that the rights lie with three companies: Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures.

Nintendo says physical games for Switch requiring microSD card will let you play a portion of the game out of the box
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 75 Comments
Earlier today, Nintendo announced a partnership with Western Digital for specially-branded Switch microSD cards. Perhaps that’s in part due to a requirement from some upcoming games. According to Nintendo, “a microSD card will be needed for certain Nintendo Switch games that contain an especially large amount of content and require additional storage for players to enjoy the full experience.”
A Nintendo of America representative told IGN that boxart will be sure to inform consumers about the memory card requirement on the front and back of packaging. This includes NBA 2K18, which is pictured above. The eShop will also continue to let buyers know about file sizes.
