Dark Souls: Remastered

It took a few months longer than originally expected, but Dark Souls: Remastered has finally arrived on Switch. Digital Foundry has taken a closer look at the game from a technical perspective in a new video published today.

One thing to keep in mind is that Dark Souls for Switch is based on the last-gen version. That means it doesn’t feature the higher frame rate as the newer PlayStation 4 / Xbox One editions or their visual improvements. As Digital Foundry describes it, Dark Souls on Switch is the “authentic” version presented as it was many years ago.

When SNK 40th Anniversary Collection makes it to Switch next month, it’ll be accompanied by a limited edition. NIS America shared an image this week that showcases the package’s full contents. Buyers will receive SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, a “Nostalgic Music Collection” soundtrack, art book, and collector’s box.

NIS America is still taking pre-orders for the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection Limited Edition on its website here. It’s due out on November 13.

Usually when you think of Minecraft, you think of a game that can be played by anyone regardless of their age. Generally speaking, it’s a family-friendly experience. Yet for Minecraft: Story Mode, the original plan was something a bit different.

According to former Telltale narrative designer Emily Grace Buck, what was originally created “was not appropriate for young kids.” In fact, had the company moved forward with what it had, the ESRB would have given the project a T-rating. Buck didn’t elaborate beyond this as to what Telltale had originally created.

Mega Man 11

The Mega Man 11 game Capcom shipped a few weeks ago wasn’t always the original plan for the game. In an interview with producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya and Rockman Unity’s Ucchi, it’s revealed that something else entirely was planned.

What did Capcom originally have in mind? While we may not have the answer to that now, we may know one day. Tsuchiya says he hopes that the idea he had in mind will “be released in another form eventually”.

When I had my first random encounter with the original Dragon Quest Builders (DQB), I was ready to add it to the stack of other Minecraft clones that were all melting into one. I decided to fire up the demo anyway, and luckily I did because what the game boiled down to was liquid metal fun. Though my time with the game was great, some areas were a little under-leveled. Luckily for us, Square Enix has been on the grind to level up the DQB short comings. There is a lot to cover here, so find a House of Healing, save that game, and prepare for a stack of Dragon Quest Builders 2 facts that will have you ready to rocket into the next game.

Wolfenstein II

Wolfenstein II received a new 1.2 update out of the blue last month. Bethesda didn’t really go into much of the details, but as it turns out, quite a few visual improvements were made. This also includes a better frame rate as well as higher textures and image resolution.

Here’s a video comparing versions 1.1 and 1.2:
