Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild

Three years ago, Capcom and Pure Imagination Studios announced the 3D animated special Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild. It has now resurfaced – and it’s coming pretty soon.

Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild will debut on Netflix, and the streaming service has now issued the first trailer. The company says of the movie: “In a world where humans and fearsome monsters live in an uneasy balance, young hunter Aiden fights to save his village from destruction by a dragon.” Capcom notes that the original story “focuses on characters from titles such as Monster Hunter 4 and Monster Hunter: World.”

The Zelda & Loftwing amiibo has been “impacted by unforeseen shipping delays”, according to Nintendo. Some figures will be available as expected on July 16. However, the majority will be distributed later, with additional shipments now expected in August.

GameStop intends to restock the Ridley amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. line later this year, the retailer has announced. It will be an exclusive – meaning no other retailer will be carrying the figure.

Pre-orders for the restock are already open. If interested, you can reserve it here. Ridley will be back on October 8, just in time for Metroid Dread.

The Dark Samus amiibo is also seeing a reprint. At least right now, that one is looking like a Best Buy exclusive.

The company is currently teasing seven projects related to the series. Announcements should begin in September, and all of the news should be out there by next fall.

The Game of Life: Super Mario Edition

Update (7/9): Amazon has now opened pre-orders here. Based on the listing, it looks like this is ready to ship.


Original (7/1): Hasbro is teaming up with Nintendo on a unique twist on a classic board game. The Game of Life: Super Mario Edition will release this summer, it’s been announced.

Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi are primarily featured. Players will be “journeying through the Mushroom Kingdom” as they “move around the looping paths of the gameboard as they collect coins, power up with items and companions, and play fun minigames along the way such as Rock Paper Scissors, Thumb Wars, and Spin-Offs.” It all culminates with a battle against Bowser.

Monolith Soft reported its financial results this week, and it turns out that the Nintendo subsidiary had a fantastic year. For the fiscal period ending March 2021, profit was reported at 1.171 billion yen. That’s by far the highest amount for the company over the past several years.

During the previous fiscal year, Monolith Soft recorded a profit of 491 million yen. That’s an increase of 138.2 percent.
