General Nintendo

The latest episode of Nintendo’s Japanese show Nyannyan Neko Mario Time has now gone live featuring WarioWare: Get It Together!, Mario Golf: Super Rush, and more. We’ve included it below.

Previous episodes of Nyannyan Neko Mario Time can be found here.

There hasn’t been much casting news surrounding the Super Mario animated movie (or news about the film in general), but it seems that Sebastian Maniscalco is voicing a character.

The actor and comedian appeared during the latest episode of Bertcast where he casually mentioned his involvement. Maniscalco said that he’s “in the movie Super Mario Bros., an animated movie” before adding that he’s “playing Spike, their boss.”

Here’s the official overview:

Kirby Star Allies

This week’s episode of Nintendo Minute has gone live. In today’s video, Kit and Krysta play Minecraft for the first time. Check out the full episode below.

Metroid Dread

Nintendo has issued the “Report Vol. 4” for Metroid Dread. In today’s piece, the series’ story is covered across various entries. A new teaser for Metroid Dread is included.

Here’s the full report:

While the Switch’s sales have certainly been impressive (the system reaching over 89 million units sold), the company’s stock prices have dipped considerably following their financial results yesterday. Friday morning in Japan, Nintendo Co. LTD fell 8.8% in the market, its biggest dip since February 2019.

It seems Nintendo’s quarterly profit did not reach its estimates and investors are beginning to pull out; possibly due to worries that the handheld console market has hit its peak as the pandemic lessens in parts of the globe. Additionally, the new OLED Switch model has some investors questioning Nintendo as their sales slowed since its announcement and profits for Sony and Microsoft have increased (seen in the graph from Bloomberg below).

Focus Home Interactive acquires Dotemu

Focus Home Interactive today announced that it has acquired Dotemu. The deal should be fully closed in September.

According to today’s announcement, “Dotemu will be able to give even greater ambition to its projects and give itself the means to broaden the range of services offered to studios, in order to guarantee the success of their productions on the retro label as well as on the publishing label The Arcade Crew.”

Dotemu has published a number of games on Switch, including Streets of Rage 4, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, and Ys Origin. It is also involved with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and Windjammers 2.

The full announcement can be read below.

Nintendo Switch

Today’s financial report from Nintendo has brought along a couple of notable sales milestones.

First up, Switch has shipped more than 89 million units, which means it’s now the seventh best-selling console of all time. It has outsold the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which ended their runs at 87.4 million and 86 million units respectively.

Nintendo also reached the mark of having sold over 800 million pieces of consoles / handhelds. This includes standalone devices such as Switch, Wii, and DS, but not the likes of Game & Watch and plug & play retro consoles.

Here’s a look at how Nintendo’s performance stacks up to other companies:
