[Let’s Talk] E3 2018 reactions

Just like that, another E3 is in the books. After a week of jam-packed news, trailers, and more, the expo has drawn to a close.
There was plenty to look at throughout the week, but the main event for us was on Tuesday with the Nintendo Direct. Smash Bros. Ultimate had its expected blowout, but a few other games were shown as well. Daemon X Machina and Super Mario Party were announced, Fire Emblem: Three Houses was unveiled, the new Xenoblade Chronicles 2 story content was shown, and a few leaked games were confirmed – Fortnite, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Overcooked 2. There were a few other goodies spread out throughout the week including the release of the latest Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC and Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion, Arcade Archives Donkey Kong, and a meaty Octopath Traveler demo.
There were some notable omissions. Yoshi for Switch wasn’t present, and has been pushed back to 2019. Metroid Prime 4 was also nowhere to be seen, though that might not be too surprising considering we only saw a logo last year. Nintendo also had nothing to say about 3DS at all – including during the Treehouse streams – so we’ll have to wait a bit longer for new looks at WarioWare Gold, Luigi’s Mansion, and Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr’s Journey.

The last day of E3 2018 is here, and so is Nintendo’s final live stream. The Treehouse crew will be back once again to show off a bunch of games for hours on end, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, and more.

The second day of Nintendo’s E3 coverage will be kicking off in an hour from now. Expect the live stream below to start at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM in the UK / 6 PM in Europe.
Nintendo doesn’t have any presentations or tournaments today. However, Treehouse Live will be back for many hours of streaming coverage. We’ll be breaking up the different segments on the site as they wrap up, and will share any notable news if there is any.

Today’s Nintendo Direct has ended, but Nintendo’s E3 activities are just getting started. As for today specifically, we have hours of live streams from the Treehouse to look forward to, as well as tournaments for Splatoon 2 and Smash Bros. Watch all of the action as it happens below.

E3 will be opening up its doors very soon, but before the expo officially begins, Nintendo is closing out this week’s round of presentations with a Nintendo Direct. The show starts at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM in the UK / 6 PM in Europe. You can watch the Nintendo Direct live below.
Super Smash Bros. for Switch is obviously a sure thing here. Nintendo hasn’t confirmed any other titles, but possibilities include Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eeevee, Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Metroid Prime 4, and others.
We’ll also have a live blog going below, which I’ll be passing over to Josh if all goes well. New announcements will be added to the site as they come in, with full coverage to follow the rest of the day and through Thursday.

Guess what’s just one week away? That’s right: E3! The first conference will actually be held on June 9 by EA. Other companies will follow with their own presentations in the days after that, including Nintendo.
If you’re a gamer, E3 is undoubtedly the most exciting time of the year. This goes for Nintendo fans as well even though we have Nintendo Directs to look forward to every now and then. E3 is packed with announcements, footage of new games (including a ton of hours from the Treehouse streams), and much more. Many companies lay out their plans for the rest of the year, as well what’s planned far into the future.

Submissions are now closed. Thanks to everyone who expressed interest!
Despite being more tired and busier than ever before, I want us to be able to try new things and possibly return to old things. However, we can’t get much done unless we bring on some additional help. I’ve realized that we need to bring some fresh folks on board as well to sort out some vacancies.
With that in mind, we are looking to add some new volunteers, and we have more openings than in the past – at least at one time. Ranked in terms of priority, we currently have the following positions available:
[Let’s Talk] Do the Star Fox Grand Prix rumors pique your interest?

One of the biggest Nintendo rumors to have emerged within the past few days is Star Fox Grand Prix. Retro Studios, developer of the Metroid Prime and latest Donkey Kong Country games, is said to be working on the project.
Taking inspiration from Diddy Kong Racing, Star Fox Grand Prix will apparently feature a hub world and boss battles. The project itself still isn’t confirmed, but a number of outlets have come forward within the past few days pointing to this week’s speculation being valid. However, if this game truly exists, we likely won’t hear about it until E3 – or possibly even in a Nintendo Direct later this year.
Let’s assume for a minute that Star Fox Grand Prix is happening. Based on what we’ve heard, are you willing to give the game a shot? Or are you not interested in the idea of this sort of title?
