Nintendo has announced results from sales generated between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday, and has set a couple of records in the process.

To kick off the World of Light mode in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we see the game’s characters vaporized by mysterious beams. Almost everyone is taken down – except Kirby. Kirby manages to escape, and that’s where the adventure mode really begins.

In a Famitsu column this week, director Masahiro Sakurai addressed Kirby’s initial survival in World of Light. He commented on a few other topics related to the game as well.

Nintendo Switch

We previously heard that Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee were some of the top-selling products on Black Friday. Nintendo’s actual console also did very well during the holiday week.

Adobe Digital Insights indicates that Switch was the top-selling product on Thanksgiving. It was the fourth best-seller on Small Business Saturday, and was again in the top five – specifically #3 – for Cyber Monday.

Nintendo has yet to share any official data about its performance during Black Friday week. However, it’s clear that Switch and a number of its games did very well.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame

Warner Bros., TT Games, and The LEGO Group have announced The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame. Inspired by The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part movie, the game is currently in development for Switch and other platforms.

Here’s an official blurb:

Today, Koei Tecmo announced the western release date for Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World. North America will have the game on March 26. The European release will follow on March 26.

Here’s the latest information on Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists:

Super Mario Odyssey has reached a new milestone in the UK. Propelled by the latest sales coming from Black Friday, the game has surpassed 500,000 copies sold.

Switch only has one other title to hit the same mark, and most would probably be able to guess what it is. Indeed: it’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Note that digital sales aren’t included here. If they were, Super Mario Odyssey probably would have surpassed the 500k mark a little while ago.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

The Legend of Zelda: Concert 2018 kicked off in Japan this week. Normally you wouldn’t expect any sort of major news from that type of event, but something noteworthy did in fact happen.

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma reportedly appeared at the concert this weekend. Based on messages from fans who attended and posted on social media, Aonuma said: “We know what you are thinking, Skyward Sword on Switch, right?” That prompted the audience to clap and cheer.

Nintendo has been bringing the 3D Zelda games to new systems one by one, so a new release of Skyward Sword would make sense. Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask hit 3DS while Wind Waker and Twilight Princess landed on Wii U. Could Skyward Sword on Switch be next?
