The LEGO NES was only just announced a couple of weeks ago, but the product has already arrived. Its official release date is tomorrow.

What you may not know is that there’s a special Easter egg hidden inside. We’ll be going into more detail beyond this point, so keep that in mind if you don’t want to be spoiled in any way.

Nintendo Life has published a new interview with Jonathan Bennink, the lead designer on LEGO Super Mario. Bennink spoke about the earliest designs, how Nintendo dropped the product 6,000 times each time a new build was sent to them, approval for sound effects and getting new voice lines from Charles Martinet, and being able to have meetings with Koji Kondo – which usually doesn’t happen.

Here’s the full roundup of these topics:

Among the leaks is the discovery of human NPCs in the original Animal Crossing while it was being developed for the N64, and we even have a few images of these characters. Another major finding is are in-development sprites of Mario with wings from Super Mario World.

Luigi - Super Mario 64

24 years after the launch of Super Mario 64 on the N64, Luigi’s model has finally been restored in the game.

Luigi was originally planned for the 3D platformer through splitscreen multiplayer. However, Nintendo abandoned the idea after the team was unable to implement the idea.

Paper Mario: The Origami King

Paper Mario: The Origami King released in Japan last week, and Famitsu reported that the game sold 109,000 copies in its first few days. We now have a chart comparing the debut for every Paper Mario game in Japan (including Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam since it features that character).

Here’s the full chart ranked by first week sales:

Yesterday brought us another substantial Nintendo leak. Game protoypes, source code, and other data began to spread online. If that wasn’t enough, we found out about a pitch for an online Pokemon PC title and were able to get an early look at some classic games, including beta sprites and early designs.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, yet another major Nintendo leak has turned up today. The latest one is all about the N64 such as the system’s operating system and lots of games.
