Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition is about to launch on Switch, and it’s a very significant release. For the very first time, Nintendo’s console is getting a game built with the Frostbite engine.
Nintendo Everything was recently able to speak with producer Melvin Teo to discuss the Switch port in greater detail. We know that there are a lot of folks curious about the game from a technical perspective, and fortunately we were able to find out more.

Last week, Pyra/Mythra was added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the latest DLC character. The two-in-one fighter is the new representative from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 instead of Rex, who has the starring role.
You may recall that Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai talked about the decision to feature Pyra/Mythra over Rex a bit during a presentation from earlier in the month. In his latest column in Famitsu though, he went into a bit of extra detail about the thought process behind it all.
We’ve now gone ahead and prepared a complete translation of Sakurai’s piece from the Japanese magazine. Continue on below to read it in full.

Monster Hunter Digital Event live stream – March 2021

Level-5 CEO on how Professor Layton came to be, how the company got involved with self-publishing

In a recent interview with Yahoo Japan, Level-5 CEO Akihiko Hino spoke at length about the company’s beginnings, reminiscing about memorable moments in his career and sharing insight into the origin of some of the company’s most famous works. Once Hino announced his intent to get into self publishing back in the day, the pressure he faced fueled him to make the Level-5’s first self published title a hit, leading to the birth of Professor Layton.

Level-5 has had a storied history with many iconic series on Nintendo systems, from the Professor Layton series to Inazuma Eleven among many others. One of the company’s earliest claims to fame however was Dragon Quest VIII.
In a recent interview with Yahoo Japan, Level-5 CEO Akihiko Hino detailed the events that led the company to developing a mainline entry in the iconic franchise. After expressing his disappointment with how certain aspects of Dragon Quest VII were handled, he was challenged by a producer to take on the project himself, leading to the development of one of the series’ most iconic entries.

New Game+ Expo live stream – March 2021

New Game+ Expo, which first debuted last summer, will be getting a second presentation in just a short while. A variety of developers and publishers are participating, including Koei Tecmo, Inti Creates, Aksys Games, Idea Factory, Natsume, NIS America, GungHo America, Arc System Works, Playism, and PM Studios. There will be updates, new announcements, and more. Additionally, a few select companies will be holding specific live streams immediately following the presentation.
You can watch New Game+ Expo below, which starts at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET / 4 PM in the UK / 5 PM in Europe. We’ll be sure to share any noteworthy news that emerges.

During the latest episode of Washa Live hosted by writer Mafia Kajita and voice actor Yuichi Nakamura, Masahiro Sakurai stopped by for a chat. Given the popularity of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate it’s only natural that he was asked about the game.
Pyra/Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will soon be joining the Smash Bros. roster, and there have been all sorts of reactions to the reveal. Some fans have been disappointed to see another sword fighter being added to the game. However, as part of the conversation, the Smash Bros. director reiterated that those kinds of decisions aren’t up to him.
